Yesterday, I finally understood why people get so angry when they hear stories about thieves in Nigeria.
I had a very long day yesterday.
My external supervisor came for my SIWES supervision, and thankfully, everything went well.
On my way home, I stopped at Ogunpa Market to get a white shirt and belt in preparation for my SIWES defense next month.
I later boarded a tricycle around Cocoa House, Ogunpa, heading towards Eleyele, for those who know Ibadan well.
When we got to Eleyele, the driver asked everyone to start paying from the back.
When it got to my turn, I stepped down from the tricycle to pay my fare.
The moment my feet touched the ground, this man sped off.
I was confused.
Why would someone do that?
Then I reached into my pocket to check for my phone and realized it wasn't there.
I searched my pockets.
I searched my bag.
I checked everything I had bought from the market.
Nothing.
That's when it hit me.
I had most likely been set up.
The fact that he didn't collect my fare suddenly made sense. It felt like the whole thing had already been planned.
My phone was gone.
And honestly, losing a phone is painful, but losing one this way hurts even more.
I'm returning to Ekiti next week Friday to resume school, with my final year ahead of me, my SIWES defense coming up, and several expenses already waiting for me.
Now I have to deal with losing my phone on top of everything else.
The phone that was stolen was my Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus.
I'm putting this out here because I genuinely need help.
If anyone is willing to support me financially towards getting an Android phone around N150,000 – N200,000, it would go a long way in helping me get through my final year while I work towards getting another good phone for myself.
I'd genuinely appreciate every form of support. Nothing is too small, and I won't take anyone's kindness for granted.
my payment detail is: 8033215272 Opay the name on it is Oluwasanmi Solomon Afolabi for anyone who wants to support me.
I even had to log into my X account on my big sister's phone just to make this post.
That's how hard I'm currently managing without my phone.
May God bless everyone who supports me in any way.
And may none of us ever experience the kind of loss caused by people who choose to make a living by stealing from others.
May our belongings never become another person's target.
Amen. ❤️
