paintpicker.co.uk is a site for mini painters to compare paints, Warhammer, brushes and 3D Printers across sellers in UK/US/EU/AU/CA

United Kingdom
Hi! I'm Mike, I built PaintPicker.co.uk to make it easy to compare paints and model prices for Warhammer across retailers in the UK and the US. The site is really taking off and partners with friendly local gaming stores worldwide. Best of all; it's free!

Myth: metallics are hard. They're just paint with pigment that settles. Stir well, thin a little, done. #MiniaturePainting #PaintingTips

Myth: finish one model before starting the next. Batch painting a squad is faster AND more consistent. #MiniaturePainting #PaintingTips

Myth: washes are cheating. Shading is a technique, not a shortcut. The old masters used glazes, so you're in good company. #MiniaturePainting #PaintingTips

Myth: you need expensive paints to paint well. Technique beats brand every time. A cheap paint thinned properly beats a premium paint slapped on. #MiniaturePainting #PaintingTips

There's no such thing as a bad paint job in progress. There's only not-finished-yet. #MiniaturePainting #HobbyTalk

Hot take: base your minis BEFORE you paint them, not after. Give it one go. It makes everything downstream easier. #MiniaturePainting #Basing

Wawawooo. Looks like I'd better prep the site for some new paints!

The best brush is the one you actually clean. A cheap brush cared for beats a premium brush left to dry with paint in the ferrule. #MiniaturePainting #HobbyTips

Interesting feedback on paint finishes here
Apparently the Tone pro paints are all mega satin. I might pick a couple up just for some skintone effects. I quite like using satin paint on skin then more matt paint on everything else, gives things a more natural effect in the hand.

Grey plastic isn't a backlog to feel guilty about. It's a shelf full of good evenings waiting to happen. Prime one tonight. 🩶 #Wargaming #Warhammer

Hot take: edge highlighting is overrated on rank-and-file troops. Nobody notices it from three feet across a table. #MiniaturePainting #Wargaming

Contrast paints didn't ruin the hobby. They got a whole generation painting who'd have bounced off it otherwise. #MiniaturePainting #HobbyTalk

Unpopular opinion: you don't need an airbrush. You need to thin your paints and be patient. 90% of how'd-they-do-that is just layering. #MiniaturePainting #HobbyTalk

Hot take: a fully painted tabletop-standard army beats three half-finished display pieces. Get plastic on the table. #Wargaming #MiniaturePainting
