trad code as a hobby might be the move
Replying to @ThePrimeagen
I've been reflecting on this. I'm generally a very optimistic person, but lately I've been feeling a strange sense of sadness that coding has been "solved". I can, and have, made many caveats to "solved"... but I also know that in five years none of them will matter. It will be solved. Building things is still fun, but a different kind of fun. It doesn't activate the same parts of my brain as trad coding did. I think it's okay to mourn the thing we loved doing being different now. Software was the first job to go through the five AI stages of grief, which means we're also some of the first to internalize that this will happen to many other jobs. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

Googlebook is officially here! I’ve been so excited to share the details with the world. Today, many of us rely heavily on laptops to get work done, but we think there is an opportunity to rethink the category to address the needs of people today. So we brought the best of ChromeOS and Android to create a new platform for laptops. Our initial focus with Googlebook is to deliver an amazing laptop that feels awesome for Android phone users. Here’s what to know about Googlebook 🧵👇

my brand (adalocado) was stolen 💀 5 years ago i started a youtube channel teaching people how to use a no-code mobile app builder called adalo. i grew it to nearly 3k subs, with one video getting 74k views. piped.video/@adalocado

today, for some reason, i wanted to see if the domain had lapsed yet, so i typed it into my browser expecting to see nothing. but instead, somebody has taken on the brand and built a new website hosting adalo resources and my youtube videos 😂

i've never built anything that somebody wanted to copy or imitate, so it's really interesting to see somebody trying to build from a success i had with a brand 5 years ago. while it was weird to see, i'm also kind of proud and flattered?

bouldering might be one of the most basic fitness hobbies for people in tech, but i think there are reasons for that! 1. fun - you feel like a kid at a playground 2. challenging - as you progress, you have to learn better technique and get stronger to climb harder routes 3. gamification - every route is a puzzle that you have to solve 4. community - climbers are generally super welcoming and encouraging, which feels great when you spend your days staring at a screen it's my favorite way to exercise, by far!

now imagine this, but on a communal fridge. how motivated would you be to hit your targets?
e-ink display on my fridge that shows my macros 😋 I log my food through my Telegram bot, which then updates the ZecTrix device through their API

call me old fashioned, i don't like the idea of everyone walking around with cameras on their glasses. however... macro tracking would be so easy in that future.
