Working with young people with additional needs is a privilege. You have so much influence over how they experience learning. Things might not happen at the speed you want, the responses you get might not be what you expect and you might have to teach some who are standing on a wobble board but it will be worth it. When you find the way to work alongside their needs, learning happens fast. Their success is your lasting joy. It's a beautiful win-win.

How many times would it take for me to tell you that you are patient and kind before you believed it? What about if three or four people told you the same thing every day? How long would it be before you questioned yourself? #AmWriting

Boundaries are important, but let's do them with kindness. 🌞👇💖
Making reasonable adjustments when the child gets into difficulty is always more complicated and time consuming than doing the preventative work. Give a warning, approach slowly, get lower than eye level if you can, don’t insist on eye contact (even better side by side), use your planned micro script, speak calmly but assertively ‘I need you to….” “I know that you can”, give them time/patience/kindness but hold your boundary at the same time. It isn’t kind to just let it go. Kindness is teaching the boundary properly. WhenTheAdultsChange.com
