Took the kids to see Heart of the Beast tonight. The story of a man and his dog had us hooked, and I recognised New Zealand instantly. Beautifully filmed. It made me want to share a few of my favourite landscapes I’ve photographed here. Highly recommend it. #heartofthebeast

a few years ago the dusk hue was crazy from particles in the atmosphere after the tongan eruption, in this photo the moon is rising behind me illuminating the mountains 🩷

Three recent photos with the Asterra Z+ astro tracking mount The first shot is at 85mm, 30 seconds The second is a 28mm, 60 second panorama. The last one is a huge 85mm panorama. The megapixel count got pretty ridiculous on that one. There was a bit of thin hazy cloud around, which caused some star bloat, but I actually really liked the effect it gave the sky. It did make stitching the pano together a bit of a pain though. After using the Z+ for a few months now, it’s become the main tracker that lives in my bag.

Stoked as a finalist for the @ausgeo Photographer of the Year to be in the 2026 Australian Geographic Photographer of the Year book and to on display for six months at the South Australian Museum in Adelaide (29 August 2026 to 14 February 2027). Also will be on display in Sydney at the Australian Museum from 12 September 2026 to 14 February 2027.
