We visited Crestwood Middle School in Royal Palm Beach where Officer Christopher Nickelson has been working for the past five years. He's no stranger to the campus though, Officer Nickelson actually attended Crestwood as a student! His passion for the community and making a positive impact helps him form strong relationships with students and staff members.

Thank you to everyone who attended our annual College and Career Fair at the Shiner Law Group Expo Center at the South Florida Fairgrounds Tuesday night. 🎓 We were proud to host representatives from more than 100 colleges, universities, military branches, and career and technical education centers, who met with our students and shared details of their programs. Students and families also had access to information about scholarships and financial aid. It was great to see our future graduates learning more about what's next after high school, and the wide range of opportunities that await them. The sky's the limit!

Ethical Governance Day at Royal Palm Beach Community High School gave students an opportunity to learn how their local government works and gain a deeper understanding of public service and law professions. Students heard directly from leaders who shape our community, including Judges from the 15th Judicial Circuit, State Attorney Alexcia Cox, local elected officials, School Board members Erica Whitfield, District 4, Marcia Andrews, District 6, and Virginia Savietto, District 2, and more. Thank you to all panelists who took the time to share their passion with our students.

During the September 16 School Board meeting, the Board recognized Spanish River High School student Samantha Berke, for winning first place in the 2025 Dori Saves Lives Spread the Word Video PSA Contest. The contest was organized by the Dori Slosberg Foundation, a non-profit, public service organization dedicated to traffic and road safety. Samantha’s winning video PSA was on the topic of distracted driving. Congratulations, Samantha!

South Bay Celebrates Literacy 📚 The city of South Bay held its first Community Literacy Week, as part of National Literacy Month. The daily events, which continue through Saturday, bring together community members, educators, and more, to help make reading fun, engaging, and accessible. When we all come together, we can inspire the next generation of lifelong readers.

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY ⭐️ A heartfelt thank you to Publix and local store manager Perry Menchel for their ongoing support of our schools. Mr. Menschel routinely visits Olympic Heights High School and speaks to students in the Finance Academy about career planning and life after high school. His dedication to working with our students is a great example of the business community and school community coming together to make a positive impact.

During the September 16 School Board meeting, the Board recognized Jupiter High School student John Abkemeier Jr., for receiving the American Heart Association Heart Saver Hero Award. John Jr. performed CPR on his father, John Sr., for three minutes after his father collapsed at their home. John Jr. had learned CPR in his P.E. class just two weeks prior. Congratulations to John Abkemeier Jr. on receiving the American Heart Association Heart Saver Hero Award and for his quick-thinking life-saving actions. Leaders in the Law To recognize Constitution Day, students from 10 middle and high schools who participate in pre-law and criminal justice academy programs gathered for a special event to practice what they are learning in the classroom. With the guidance of Honorable Judges from the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit, the students participated in a hands-on mock trial, acting as attorneys and jurors. We are so grateful to our special guests for giving their time to help the next generation of leaders. This is just one of the many ways our choice and career academies go beyond the classroom to help students prepare for their futures!

Today, we celebrate and honor Constitution Day and the start of Constitution Week 🇺🇸 Signed in 1787, the U.S. Constitution is the foundation of our government, establishing the rights and freedoms we hold as Americans. This week, we're recognizing this vital part of American history by helping students understand its enduring role in our daily lives.

During the September 16 School Board meeting, the Board recognized St. Mary’s Medical Center for its generous donation of a mobile bicycle safety training trailer. The trailer, equipped with bikes and safety gear, will be used at elementary schools throughout the North Region. It will support the District’s bicycle and pedestrian safety education efforts by providing interactive bicycle safety courses to students in grades 3-5. We are grateful to St. Mary’s Medical Center for its generous support and commitment to promoting the safety and well-being of students and families in our community.
