I haven't heard anyone else talk about this, but a major reason for why globalization makes countries homogenous is that the local inhabitants in those countries WANT it to be that way. Only people who have the resources/ability to travel complain about this.

One of the truly admirable things about the soviet union is that instead of lionizing the culture of the proles, they tried to elevate the commoners through mass consumption of high culture. A return to that among the western left would be most welcome.

Unfortunately, even for many pro-Ukraine people, this whole war is just a social media spectacle. For us standing in the frontline against Russia, all kind of sensationalism or sowing panic is harmful, because that's what the Russian information warfare is about.
I'm very surprised that there's quite a big portion of Ukraine supporters who actually want to see the Baltics invaded just so they could go "I TOLD YOU SO" on Twitter.
It's kinda sad.

A 49-year-old Hasidic man was mobilized in Ukraine while returning from Uman to Israel
Yonatan Karlinski-Mashek had traveled to Uman for Rosh Hashanah and presented an Israeli passport at the border on his way back. However, during the checks, authorities discovered that he had also retained Ukrainian citizenship. He was then taken off the bus and sent to the Odesa region to undergo the mobilization procedure.
The Jerusalem Post reported the case, while the Israeli Embassy confirmed that he had been detained.
According to media reports, Karlinski-Mashek is currently in the Odesa region and is awaiting assignment as a doctor to a unit in the Kharkiv area. His family tried to secure his release, but without success.
He was given a prayer book and provided with kosher food.
