October 29, 1972- "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown" first aired on CBS. It's based off a set of strips from 1964 where Linus runs for president. It's the 10th special it reran on ABC during their years as the filler half hour for "The Great Pumpkin" #Peanuts

Happy Anniversary to "You're A Good Sport, Charlie Brown" which came out on October 28, 1975. The only Peanuts special about motocross. And one where Charlie Brown wins something. #Peanuts

I like how fitting it was to have Charlie Brown be the first person who waits for the Great Pumpkin with Linus. A shift from the previous year.
Yes, this one was used for "The Great Pumpkin" special just parts changed and it being Sally. #Peanuts

It's interesting because it's Charlie Brown making fun of Linus - a big rarity- and that it feels like it wasn't going to be a permeant thing. The last panel makes it feel like it that was going to be it. #Peanuts #GreatPumpkinDay

October 26, 1959- The Great Pumpkin is first mentioned in Peanuts. Linus' concept comes from him confusing the concept of Santa into having a second figure that does it for Halloween. A figure Linus believes in no matter what anyone else says, he's unwavering.
