Out in @CurrentBiology: a challenge to traditional views on distorted body representations. With @LukeMillerNeuro and @pmedendorp at @DondersInst we found that biases in hand perception stem from somatosensory computations, not a distorted hand model. authors.elsevier.com/a/1j2ki…

New position paper accepted at #ICML2024! 💻🧠 "An Inner Interpretability Framework for AI Inspired by Lessons from Cognitive Neuroscience" We show how many of the problems/discussions in the AI Inner Interpretability field are similar to those in Cognitive Neuroscience (1/2)
The fields of Inner Interpretability and Cognitive Neuroscience aim to mechanistically explain the behavior of artificial and biological systems, respectively. The multilevel explanatory framework proposed here draws out the parallels and suggests strategies that can be transferred between fields to tackle current issues in Inner Interpretability (shown in red).
