40 years since making The Color of Money. I had the privilege as a young artist, to have a general meeting with Paul Newman and separately with Martin Scorsese years before making this film, where they shared some of their wisdom on cinema. Of course, I’d seen their films, but prior to meeting them for the first time, I set up a personal study course where I would watch their films in sequence from the beginning of their careers, up until that point in time. After being cast in The Color of Money, I once again studied all of their films in sequence. Having studied their work, then being able to see firsthand these incredible artists, the towering legends of our field, at work on set, I was able to observe their practical application in every aspect of acting and filmmaking from their point of view. I will always be grateful for this opportunity and for the generosity that Newman and Scorsese showed me with their knowledge of cinema and insight throughout the entire process. To Marty, Paul, and the enormously talented cast and crew, it was a pleasure and an honor to be part of this film with you all! I have carried this experience and knowledge with me my entire career.

#Digger is truly a one of a kind movie the kind of film only Alejandro G. Iñárritu could take under his wing and somehow masterfully pull off. It never allows you to predict where it’s going next, while simultaneously holding up a brutally obvious mirror to modern-day America and where we might be heading. The satire is so heavy, outrageous, and fearless that some might even call it Iñárritu operating on a South Park level. It’s wild. Bombastic. Insane. Brilliant. Dark. Depressing. And almost impossible to fully describe without diving deep into spoilers. This is the kind of movie you need to experience for yourself at least once, just so you can walk away and decide what the hell you think about it. But when in doubt… Tom Cruise RUNS the show. This is easily one of the best performances of his career and honestly, it might be THE best. He completely disappears into this role, delivering a performance that is fearless, transformative, and absolutely impeccable.

DIGGER is a breathtaking piece of cinema. Tom Cruise has had an amazing 45 year career, but this is his best performance of all time. A mid-movie monologue he delivers may be the single best scene of any movie of all year long. He has the eccentricity of a Bond villain, the arrogance and ignorance of a stereotypical American, and the undeniable charisma of classic @TomCruise. Iñárritu ridicules America’s idiocy and overconfidence, while finding both tragedy and humor in the direction our world is heading in. What a film.
