Plural, is by far, one of the most impressive and most interesting VC firms in Europe. Their mission has always been to back companies that could have a genuine GDP impact in Europe. If you look at their portfolio they really do back insanely unconventional founders building things that could have a transformational impact for the continent. Non-obvious bets that they made a few years ago are now doing insanely well. Across 2026 alone the portfolio has gone on to raise $3.3 billion. Europe wastes around 72 TWh of renewable electricity every year - equivalent to Austria’s annual electricity needs. This is because we are unable to store wind and solar energy effectively. However, a European startup now built a battery that can store renewable energy for up to 100 hours, and it has just raised a $43m Series A to roll it out. The round has been led by @pluralplatform (@soundboy) and @HV_Capital. The startup - Ore energy, has already signed a 1GWh deal with Budget Thuis, a challenger Dutch-based energy and telecoms utility supplier. Its pilot projects with EDF have already demonstrated how its technology performs in real-world utility settings. This could be GAME CHANGING for the European energy market. Not only is a huge amount of electricity wasted because of our inability to store renewable energy but it is a frequent reason used against investing in more renewables. UK @DefenceHQ selects Frankenburg to develop a low-cost air defence missile system in the UK Frankenburg Technologies has been awarded a contract under the UK Ministry of Defence’s Low-Cost Air Defence Effectors (LCADE) programme to develop cost-effective interceptor capabilities against mass drone attacks and other airborne threats. Frankenburg’s work will focus on further developing, integrating and trialling the air-launched version of our guided Mark I air defence missile. The solution builds on Project LOAD with @AirbusDefence, combining Mark I with the Airbus Bird of Prey uncrewed aircraft. The system completed its first demonstration earlier this year, with further trials planned during 2026. LCADE is the UK contribution to LEAP, a joint initiative between the UK, Poland, France, Italy and Germany to develop affordable air defence systems that can be produced in large numbers. The UK is the first LEAP partner nation to award contracts under the programme. The programme will be UK-led and supported by a prioritised UK supply chain, aligned with Frankenburg’s wider plan to establish missile production in the UK in 2027.
