In short, the sewer line we originally planned to use and are permitted to hook up to by the NYCDEP is now being replaced by the BMCR team as they prepare the waterfront esplanade for flood resilience and restoration. The new sewer line won't be complete until the fall.

The pool requires a sewer hookup to discharge waste from regular backwashing of the filters. This waste cannot (nor would we want it to!) be discharged back to the river. As a result, the pilot pool’s on-site operational demonstration is now scheduled for 2027.
