I have been working at this company for almost two years, and I was often the one staying late to finish important projects.
I always tried to give my best.
I helped train new employees, took on extra responsibilities, and stayed late whenever there was something important to finish.
But sometimes, I felt like my boss saw me as someone who should just be lucky to have the job.
Whenever I asked for a raise, he would always tell me the company was struggling financially, and I should give it some time.
So I kept telling myself to be patient.
Then one Friday, something happened that I never expected.
A large amount of money went missing from the company's account.
My boss called an emergency meeting and asked everyone to gather in the conference room.
Boss: Someone here is responsible for this money, and we're going to find out who.
Then he turned to me.
Boss: You were the last person working on the financial records. Can you explain what happened?
Me: Sir, I honestly don't know anything about the missing money.
Before I could say anything else, one of my coworkers spoke up.
Employee: I think it was him. He was the last person in the office.
Another employee quickly agreed.
Employee 2: He had access to the records too.
I sat there, looking around the room, hoping someone would speak up for me.
But nobody did.
Almost everyone seemed convinced that I was responsible.
I couldn't believe it.
After everything I had done for that company, nobody was even willing to hear me out.
I felt embarrassed, hurt, and completely betrayed.
My boss eventually ordered an investigation.
For the next three days, I could barely concentrate on my work.
I kept wondering how people I had worked with for so long could turn against me so quickly.
Then, on the third day, the investigation finally revealed the truth.
