I had this big realization in my early 20s that by thinking of periods of time as write-offs, like “just a phase” or “I just need to get through this moment and then I’ll” I was missing the key point that it was all my actual life, and I was missing it by being checked out.

Definitely don’t think about Lestat making sure Louis consented to his turning. Or how he waits for Louis to initiate the kiss. Or how that choice had been stripped away from him.
