The biggest change since last issue is that we are orchestrating the tests on GitHub Actions! All desktop tests now run on macOS instances. The mobile tests are still running on local hardware, but are controlled by GitHub Actions. We hope this new design means we can focus less on coaxing test runs to completion, and more on developing tests. Also it hopefully means that we can run tests and publish test results more frequently.

.@Mozilla, if encryption is our last line of defense, you should be enabling HTTPS-Only Mode in @firefox by default. It's still disabled, even in Private Browsing windows. That means Firefox still makes unencrypted connections to websites without warning users.

Google announced yesterday that they no longer intend to deprecate third-party cookies in Chrome: privacysandbox.com/news/priv…
In my opinion, this decision is a disaster for online privacy. Third-party cookies are a key method that advertisers and other tracking companies use to gather your web browsing history without your knowledge.
Google's new proposal to give users an "informed choice" might be better than nothing, but it isn't yet clear what that choice would entail. In any case, what's to say this new proposal won't also be discarded after a few years, if Google discovers that most users would choose to stop tracking?
There are other, more privacy-protecting browsers available for download today. Such browsers block third-party cookie tracking and many other forms of tracking by default.
Unfortunately, privacy on the web in 2024 is still not the norm! Most people in the world are still using browsers that aren't protecting their privacy. These leaky browsers are knowingly facilitating mass surveillance and making our society, our democracies, vulnerable.
What can we do about this problem? How can we ensure that someday soon, everyone is using a privacy-protecting browser? Have any creative ideas? Let's discuss!
