Here is a chart of top 20 countries with the most researchers per capita. We've had to take a double look at it as it certainly has a couple of surprising places

To reinforce some stereotypes, "J Smith" is indeed the most common western name (among scientists). However, "R Smith"s aren't lagging too far behind, and there is less variation for them in a long spelling. More Roberts and Richards than Johns. And middle names certainly help

In June alone we parsed 290 thousand articles written by about a million authors. They published in affiliation with 17 thousand institutions from 183 countries.
