$40,000,000,000,000. The U.S. national debt has gotten so large that the number almost loses meaning. So how big is the debt, really?

Bot detection & human verification will be one of the most urgent demands for businesses over the coming years. Agent swarms will suffocate every website and form; small companies and government websites are most vulnerable. There is a huge gap in the market for this right now. When we looked at what offerings were in the market to use at X, there was not a single company that brought together all the latest technologies so we had to do it all in-house.

my Ethos (and $WHUF) thesis is pretty simple. reputation is one of the biggest missing primitives in crypto. the interesting part with $WHUF is that it gives the network its own economic layer. fixed 10m supply, no emissions, and the token is used for vouching rather than just sitting there as a governance trophy or smth. if Ethos becomes the reputation layer that more protocols, apps and communities plug into, the token has a pretty interesting flywheel. more users, more reputation data, more utility, more demand for the asset securing that reputation. the truth is that crypto spent years financializing everything except trust. Ethos is taking a swing at financializing trust itself. that's a pretty fucking big narrative if they execute, and my humble, honest opinion is that they will. ethos everywhere.

incredibly grateful for the turnout and results of the $WHUF auction for @ethos_network sooo many people have worked to bring us to this point, in so many different capacities. we truly owe it to YOU to get Ethos to where it is today (I don't think there's enough gratuity to go around in web3. if this kinda stuff makes you roll your eyes then scroll on buddy) most importantly, thank you to all of the people who participated in the auction - it's so cool to see people turn out, in size, with support for Ethos' network token. We could not unlock the next phase of the protocol without you. and you believed even while we were completely unable to give you ANY idea for what is coming next!! it was also so awesome to be huddled around the livestream with the team and see people like @0x_ultra, @icobeast, @WazzCrypto, who have always strongly believed in Ethos for years now - bidding on the auction in real time. just such a great feeling knowing there are people out there who genuinely believe in what we're working on showing up with size to show their support we even saw some of the EARLIEST contributors to the protocol (from 2 years ago!) like @BlueChilliZero participating out of no where, or people like @buz_eth who have always been building and tinkering on the API (and was a heavy testnet user), or @Magicianafk who attended all of my livestreams and even sniped ethos-foundation.eth for us when we were snoozing thank you to all of the people from various teams that have helped us get to where we are today - the base team with @davidtsocy and @jessepollak supporting us loudly and proudly- and the coinbase team for investing in us, hosting our echo sale. the various partners we've worked with to bring ethos scores to different apps have been incredibly helpful too; @bread_ for having some of the original vision for Ethos and then supporting us in the megaeth sale. @itsmod323 and @credifi team for unlocking a core use case we've wanted to for years now.. somehow right before the sale. So many people to be grateful for along the way on the partnerships side! to ben and the team, who have always put their strongest foot forward on a very clear mission for Ethos - many of the team who took pay cuts working in web2 to come to web3 because they sincerely believed in what we were building (especially when they had very little web3 knowledge!). showing up every day, putting in crazy hours, and being as diligent as possible even when the market gets quiet. or even @__MLO_ who's always had a guest on the show twice a week for over a year now (okay most weeks) the earliest of our investors, who invested in the pre-seed - some of which who took calls from me in late 2023 - thank you for always being such a strong sounding board, a strong set of initial users, whom have always shown a dedicated belief in our vision. some of the best times we've had is in our investor discord when I was posting weekly updates from my backyard just making sure you guys knew we weren't going to rug you, lol, special shoutout there to people like @eskacie, @porkbus, @Youclidean, @gremplin, @yukokosaka, @Shatt_Eth, @quadwitch, @fillip_g who have always been there to help us think through complex problems, or watched us stumble thru the earliest versions of the product, but most importantly.. believed in us. advisors who helped us shape who we are today - the permabull in @krybharat who was always so generous with his time and truly cared about us, @0xMagmar who helped us navigate the earliest stages of running a startup in crypto, and of course @goldsmithsteve being our web2 liaison to our echo round investors, a large part of our community who became aligned early in the journey .. I know not everyone is thrilled with the auction results there, but I'm confident we're setting them up for future success as opposed to most teams who are likely to have a token that goes down only by the time unlocks happen... it has been awesome to have ~250 of you in a telegram chat as supporters of Ethos. thank you to the contributors who signed in every day and did their daily tasks, contributing to the network and helping EVERYONE understand who is trustworthy and who isn't, you helped make the network what it is today. you helped us understand how to make a better product, how to fight abuse, all while helping many others who could go consume that contribution and make better decisions because of it. Especially those of you with crazy 500day + streaks (legit insane). some of the best contributors out there like @peceka, @AdeXBT, @buz_eth, @PremiumSaltine_, @Sk0rpETH, @publius_val ... even @katexbt who has had some meaningful slashes and helpful negative reviews that help everyone else on the network and to all of the people who let me come talk to their communities and share info about what Ethos was like @CrypSaf, @BoltXBT, @0xAbhiP, @letjaybuild and many more who hosted me, allowing me to build a platform for ethos and get people interested in signing up. Some of those convos really enabled Ethos to grow in all of the ways that it did thank you to all the sybils and people trying to game ethos out there - who really helped us understand where our cracks were and how we could build an extensible system that protected against it - the score would not be where it is without it! and most importantly thank you to my wife, who has always believed in me no matter what. in october of 2023 we were on a hike somewhere and at the end I told her I wanted to quit my web2 job and build Ethos... who was subsequently probably completely shocked 😂 but has genuinely believed in me and what we are doing for almost 3!! years now but lastly, thank you to all of those who BELIEVE in what we are building. Ethos is not a normal product. It is extremely contrarian - crime IS A FEATURE of crypto - but we are so determined to change that, and I love that we've built a community of so many people who also believe in that mission. I love that there are so many people who truly feel passionate about cleaning up the wild west of crypto thru all that gratitude, it's important to remember - this was only the first inning :) much more soon

I actually think this is a bad take In the last year AI completely changed the macro world, how business works, how consumers use the internet, etc. Taking the time to learn how an arguably more important technology will change the world and impact crypto is a huge advantage sure, things changed in crypto the last 9 months too but nowhere near as fast as in AI I would argue your time was better spent maintaining your knowledge base in crypto while accelerating your knowledge base in other technologies I think those who did that rather than beating the same dead horse in crypto for the last year are much better positioned to invest and understand where crypto is heading ps no shade to Michael, guy is as sharp as they come. I just want to point out that there is no harm moving outside your bubble

BREAKING: US interest expense on the national debt hit a record $1.4 trillion over the last 12 months. Since 2020, the cost of servicing US public debt has nearly TRIPLED. If rates remain stable, interest payments are set to rise to $1.7 trillion by November 2028. As a result, interest will surpass Social Security spending as the government's largest outlay for the first time. America's debt bill is spiraling out of control.

55 years ago today, Nixon lied to the American people, saying he was "temporarily" suspending the dollar's convertibility into gold. What he actually did was subject the country to a grand economic experiment, one that has caused significant economic harm to most families. Since then, the dollar has lost over 80% of its purchasing power and the national debt has exploded from under $400 billion to over $40 trillion. Under a gold standard, governments are restrained from simply printing fiat currency because of the limited supply of specie (gold) to back it. With that standard removed, the US could print as much as it wanted, without restraint. And it has. Under a "temporary" suspension that persists 55 years later.

Ethos posted it half as a joke, but Andy says it points at something real: As AI floods the internet with bots and agents, verifiable proof that you're an actual person is turning into a genuine building block of the new internet. Reputation and identity networks like Ethos are early to it, but the bigger shift is the question itself: in an AI world, "are you human?" stops being rhetorical and starts being infrastructure.
