UPDATE: Thank you all for praying! CJ is still with us, but we have no idea what's going on. They've pan scanned him, run every imaginable lab, blood cultures, urinalysis. They were sure he was septic and had pneumonia, but now not sure. Desaturated to 56% and BP 67 systolic with no answers. On IV pressers 10x higher than he's ever been but still unresponsive.
GOOD NEWS: Neuralink intervened and are setting up a transfer for CJ to Miami! If he can survive the night (and we pray he can!) he will soon be under the care of the best neuro team in America. One that understands SCI and BP and all the things. Please pray that a bed opens up for him ASAP so he can go there on Friday.
HAPPY NEWS: CJ was unresponsive much of the evening, blue lips, desaturating, hypotensive, awful vitals, eyes-rolled-back-in-his-head, hypothermic, unconscious. My parents came to the hospital to try to help us. I told my dad, a fellow Tesla fan, that CJ was missing the Roadster event. Dad suggested we just play the livestream anyway, on the hospital table in front of CJ. Seemed pointless, but we did it. CJ's eyes flickered open. Then shut. We kept playing it. He fought to keep his eyes open. We turned the volume all the way up. He willed himself awake and watched almost the whole event. By the end, he was alert and smiling, in awe as always, at the ingenuity of
@elonmusk and
@Tesla. Talking shop with my dad, an engineer, and saying we definitely need to buy one of these 🏎️.
My apologies for the delayed update. Every time I sat down to open X, another alarm blasted through the room. In 6+ years since his accident, I have never heard so many alarms go off repeatedly: ventilator, art line, RR, BPcuff, O2 sat. I've been in medicine forever and I still have to stare at the screen for a minute to figure out which vital is screaming at the moment. There's so much going wrong at once, but thanks to Jesus, I'm optimistic that things will go right soon. Not today, Satan.
