With not one #ME specialist in the U.K. to represent the nearly 400,000 ME patients, this welcome rule simply highlights the gross neglect of us all. Where are we to turn? Many NHS trusts, despite NICE guidelines, still turn to psychiatry as a first step. Criminal negligence?
Martha’s Rule is to be expanded to A&Es across England.
Patients, loved ones and NHS staff will be able to call a dedicated number to request an urgent review if a patient’s condition is getting worse and they’re concerned it’s not being listened to.
