Sandy's second save in a week and Eury Perez's inning of relief in the same span makes me think the Marlins could be maybe somewhat seriously testing how starting pitchers respond to throwing in actual games on their high-intensity throw days between starts? No way, right?
Since saves became official in 1969, only one MLB pitcher has had, over 4 consecutive appearances in a season,
a 5.0+ inning start
then a save
then another 5.0+ inning start
then another save
That one pitcher is Sandy Alcantara.
