What @reczko_konrad built is the closest thing to magic I've seen this year.
Couldn't stop thinking about the concept of drawing with light. So I built this small React Native prototype on top of his shader.
Depth-aware light injection in TypeGPU
I got a 448x448 monocular depth model down to ~8 ms on my M4 Pro across ~250 dispatches, which is fast enough to use in realtime :D
Since the inference is written directly in TypeGPU, I can just feed the depth buffer straight into the lighting pass. It never has to leave the GPU or go through any extra synchronization/interop step
Inference, lighting and draw all go through the same command encoder.
Here depth + surface normals are estimated ahead of time to get the best visual result I could.
Way less impressive than runtime inference 😅, but still so fun for a domain where the image never changes (like paintings!).
The demo is open source with a lot of others React Native animations.

Combining Claude with react-native-webgpu has made creating this kind of animation insanely simple.
Somehow I feel the hard part now is making it feel personal. So having a creeper moving around really helps 👀
The demo is open source, along with 120+ other React Native animations.

If your app feels premium you're going to hold onto users.
That's an easy thing to say and a more difficult thing to do. Which is why we've started gathering all the best, more beautiful open source demos from our community.
Talented people like @reactiive_, @hewad_mubariz, @_philpl, @nater02, @S0LARIN, @rit3zh, @iamarunabh are sharing their code on this page: expo.dev/demos
Check it out and let us know who's work we need to add to the page.
5. True. That's quite a unique use case, but you could reuse the same trick to generate wallpapers, backgrounds, or even your GitHub thumbnails.
The code is fully open source if you'd like to have a look!

Great books always feel like the letters themselves are alive.
I’ve had this idea in mind for a while, and it was so fun to prototype with React Native Skia.
The demo is open source (along with 120+ other React Native animations).
If you’re trying to animate a lot of similar objects (images, shapes, or anything really), the Atlas API from Skia is something I strongly recommend playing around with.
It unlocks a ton of patterns, and you end up exploring ideas you wouldn't have considered otherwise. I usually start in one direction and almost always land somewhere completely different.

Loved building this splash screen for @baseapp. Did a light remodel of the icon and animated the motion in Blender.
Then took that render into After Effects for the handoff effect into the app UI.
