Watching Our Neighbours Trade a President for a King - As Canadians, watching American politics from across our border used to feel like watching a blockbuster movie. But lately, it feels more like watching a car crash in slow motion. From up here, it looks like the United States is quietly transforming into an unexpected mashup: a monarchy mixed with authoritarian and communist-style control, and it is happening right under the noses of regular Americans. When we look south at this once trusted ally, we see MAGA loyalists waving flags for freedom, yet cheering for absolute presidential immunity. To a Canadian, that doesn't look like democracyβ€”it looks like the "divine right of kings" that our ancestors walked away from centuries ago. When loyalty to one political family or a single leader replaces loyalty to the Constitution, a republic begins to look a lot like a royal court. At the same time, we see traits straight out of an old-school communist or authoritarian playbook. The constant attacks on the free press as the "enemy of the people," efforts to control what private companies can say, and politicians banning books from libraries feel less like "the land of the free" and more like Soviet-style censorship. Both absolute monarchies and communist regimes rely on the same thing: TOTAL top-down control where any disagreement is labeled as treason. From our beautiful Canadian side of the border, the warning signs are clear. If Americans keep rooting for unchecked power just because a leader is on "their team," they might soon wake up to find the Oval Office has been replaced by a throne. Just my opinion. MARK CARNEY IS THE LEADER CANADA NEEDS RIGHT NOW. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ You hate Mark Carney because he leads the Liberal Party? But be honest with yourselves. This man is nothing like any liberal we have seen, and that is precisely why so many Canadians who once voted Conservative have put their faith in him. Mark Carney is a centrist, a world-class economist, a seasoned international leader, and a Canadian who understands how the global economy actually works. He didn't spend his career chasing political popularity. He spent decades working at the highest levels of international finance, central banking, and economic policy. Stephen Harper's Conservative government appointed Carney not once but twice. This was a man whose competence and credentials earned recognition well beyond party lines. So when Conservatives mouth off about Carney, ask yourselves why his expertise was trusted at the highest levels of economic leadership long before he ever entered federal politics. His rΓ©sumΓ© speaks for itself. Harvard University. A doctorate in economics from Oxford. Thirteen years at Goldman Sachs, working in international financial centres. Governor of the Bank of Canada through the 2008 global financial crisis. Governor of the Bank of England through Brexit and years of economic uncertainty. Chair of the Financial Stability Board. United Nations Special Envoy on Climate Action and Finance. These aren't credentials handed out by a political party. These are decades of experience at the centre of the institutions shaping the global economy. And now that experience is been brought home to Canada. Look at what he has been doing. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦CUTTING TAXES. Carney eliminated the federal consumer carbon tax and cut income taxes for 22 million Canadians. His government also removed the GST on qualifying new homes priced up to $1 million for first-time homebuyers. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ BUILDING CANADA. He passed the One Canadian Economy Act to tackle internal trade barriers and launched Build Canada Homes. His government established the Major Projects Office to accelerate nation-building projects representing more than $130 billion in proposed investment. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ INVESTING IN COMMUNITIES. More than $50 billion was committed through the Build Communities Strong Fund for infrastructure such as hospitals, water systems, transit, and community facilities. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ FIXING WHAT WASN'T WORKING. His government reversed course on the proposed capital gains tax increase, changed its approach to electric vehicle mandates, and reduced temporary resident admissions to bring immigration more in line with Canada's capacity. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ STRENGTHENING OUR MILITARY. Canada reached NATO's defence spending target, increased military pay, and committed to a much larger long-term defence effort. Our sovereignty, Arctic security, and defence industry are getting serious attention. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ OPENING NEW MARKETS. Carney is working to diversify Canadian trade, attract foreign investment, and reduce our dangerous dependence on the United States. His government has pursued new partnerships across continents, negotiated trade arrangements, and worked to expand opportunities for Canadian farmers, manufacturers, energy producers, and businesses. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ PUTTING CANADA ON THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE. The Prime Minister is using relationships built over decades in global finance and diplomacy to bring Canada into important economic and security discussions. He understands the people, institutions, risks, and opportunities that shape the world economy because he has spent much of his life working within it. And there is more: stronger recruitment and pay for our Armed Forces, investment in housing, new trade agreements, major energy and transportation projects, and legislation addressing public safety and online sexualized deepfakes. Are there challenges ahead? Absolutely. Does every policy deserve unquestioning support? Of course not. But pretending this government has done nothing is simply ridiculous.

Behind the Iron Curtain of Secrecy: How Trump’s Election Blindspot Mimics Dictators - For the first time in over twenty years, the Trump administration has refused to invite international election observers from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) to monitor the upcoming 2026 midterm elections. By blocking these independent experts, Washington has joined Russia and Belarus as the ONLY countries refusing this critical oversight. From a Canadian perspective, this move looks deeply concerning. Historically, only AUTHORITARIAN regimes hide their voting processes from the world to make cheating easier. By eliminating independent global eyes, the administration is adopting a COMMUNIST-STYLE playbook of absolute secrecy. We have seen this happen before in elections across Russia, where a lack of external monitoring allowed the ruling party to manipulate results without accountability. This isn't an isolated event; it aligns with other recent authoritarian policies. This criminal administration has quietly dismantled federal election security task forces and pushed for strict control over voter rolls, replacing neutral international experts with its own Department of Justice personnel. As organizations like Human Rights Watch warn that this shows total democratic backsliding, MAGA supporters must step up and explain this choice. How can you, MAGA, defend a leader who behaves like an authoritarian sympathizer, copying the EXACT secrecy rules used by communist and dictatorial regimes to destroy democratic trust? I sincerely doubt you have an explanation. You're probably too afraid to come up and try. The world sees you for what you are...nothing but cowards. #canpoli #cdnpoly #MAGA #Republicans #VotwBlue #Midterms #usa

As long as we are talking about Batman villains, maybe the Donald should look in the mirror. He is enough to make anybody two-faced
