🇺🇦 Valentyna Pushych was a mother and a woman who had built a career in international transport. In 2016, she made a life-changing decision. Valia left her civilian job and joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces as a combat medic with the 72nd Separate Mechanised Brigade. She treated the wounded, evacuated injured soldiers under fire, and risked her own life to bring others back from the edge of death. Over the years, she saved hundreds of Ukrainian defenders. On February 27, 2022, near Brovary in the Kyiv region, Valentyna was rushing to evacuate a wounded Ukrainian defender when the vehicle she was travelling in came under attack. She and the driver were killed💔. Those who knew her remember a woman whose kindness and courage brought light into the darkest moments. As her friend said: “Valia lit up people’s lives, she was a true warrior of light.” This brave servicewoman was posthumously awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, 3rd Class, in recognition of her service and sacrifice.
