I'm watching the 2006 film "300" for research, because "conservative intellectuals" like Jonah Goldberg fetishized it as the cure for what failed American adventures in Iraq. And, holy shit, it's the gayest thing since Judy Garland.
(OK but also don't sleep on the fascism. The WHOLE TIME, they repeat how they're "fighting for freedom," which "isn't free." Sparta was a literal slave society. It is endorsement of the Confederatec definition of "freedom" as "the superior caste gets their way with the weak.")
Pleased to welcome Ambassador Barbera Thornhill, U.S. Ambassador-at-Large to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, to the U.S. Embassy in Bern. 🇺🇸🇨🇭
While Musk owns SpaceX which controls Starlink systems and can impose restrictions on them in Ukraine, those that began overnight are on the Starshield military version of the system controlled by the Pentagon. This suggests the decision to limit the speed of the Starshield systems was made within the Trump administration. ft.com/content/37085602-726a…
Interesting immigration comparison:
Ilhan Omar arrived as a 12-year-old refugee in 1995 and became a citizen in 2000.
Melania Trump arrived in 1996 and became a citizen in 2006. AP uncovered records showing she received payment for modeling work before obtaining work authorization.
Both became American citizens.
If we’re examining immigration histories, shouldn’t the same standards of evidence and due process apply to everyone?
Facts don’t change depending on whose last name is Trump.
Is it really possible to translate 2,000 year old poetry like this? Like: how can this not just be considered an original poem, inspired by, and shaped like, another in Latin?
Marco Rubio's Athens speech represents the reduction of the cultural patrimony of Western civilization to a set of grindset motivational quotes.—

This is the most tipping-point image I've seen yet to exemplify our fascist descent. And the surrender was won with the weapon of false antisemitism charges against people protesting genocide--making university administrations complicit in genocide. A moral nadir.
Party game: riff out book proposal for how any random week, day, season, year, or decade--pulled from a hat-- "changed the world," or "changed America," or made the world we live in now," etc.
I would be olympic champion of that sport.
