Most of the world's rare earth supply runs through China. We decided to build motors that don't. Modal Motors makes electric motors and generators two ways: designs that use no rare earths at all, and designs that use rare earths sourced here in the U.S. Both run on a 100% domestic supply chain. Both are engineered to beat Chinese rare-earth motors on performance while holding the lowest cost of goods sold in their class. That combination is hard to pull off, and prototyping is where most of it gets decided. The Make it in Michigan Prototyping Grant Program and the team at the Centrepolis Accelerator helped us close the gap between a working concept and a commercial product. Over $1.2 TRILLION in assets on Ethereum could be hacked as soon as a cryptographically relevant quantum computer arrives, perhaps as soon as 2029. This is the largest attack surface crypto may ever face because it includes every current software and hardware wallet, every token, NFT, USDC and any EVM or L2 asset. And waiting for ethereum to upgrade to PQ algorithms STILL won't help you. Every wallet will still need to migrate to a PQ signer. If you're reading this, you're early. Advances in cracking Shor's algorithm are happening every day, but there are many teams working on solutions.
