🇮🇹🍂 Italy in Autumn: My Guide I personally put together this little list of what I consider some of the best cities in Northern Italy to visit in autumn 1. Milan An undisputed classic In autumn, it has a truly picture perfect atmosphere, with the Duomo, the Brera Art Gallery, Leonardo’s Last Supper, and countless exhibitions A city that is perfect for a cultural and gastronomic weekend 2. Turin Even more beautiful in autumn From the Savoy residences to the National Museum of the Risorgimento, from the Mole Antonelliana to its magnificent porticoes, Turin offers so much to see And then there is the food scene, historic restaurants and cafés: one of Italy’s great cities of gastronomy 3. Ferrara A small city I adore, with a medieval atmosphere that seems almost frozen in time The historic center, cobblestone streets, cuisine and surrounding area make it perfect for a leisurely autumn stroll 4. Aosta A small city in a region that I consider still somewhat underrated It is perfect to combine with the castles of the Aosta Valley, Fort Bard, or one of the many beautiful mountain refuges In Aosta, you can truly breathe the mountain air, surrounded by Roman remains and an Alpine landscape 5. Bergamo Certainly one of the most beautiful cities in Northern Italy and, in my opinion, still waiting to be fully discovered The Upper Town is home to extraordinary artistic and architectural treasures, from the Duomo to the Colleoni Chapel, not to mention a very respectable culinary tradition 6. Padua Another city that is less well known than it deserves to be, especially internationally The Palazzo della Ragione, the Scrovegni Chapel with Giotto’s frescoes, and its many artistic treasures make it a true gem of Italian art 7. Mantua An extraordinary city, almost fairytale-like Surrounded by water and crossed by the Mincio River, with its palaces, squares and stone buildings in the historic center, it has an atmosphere that becomes even more enchanting in autumn 8. Verona Finally, another great classic, also beautiful in autumn Its little alleyways, squares, streets and shops make Verona perfect for a leisurely stroll And why not combine it with Franciacorta and some beautiful sparkling wine to raise a glass to autumn? 🍂🥂

I remember being in that middle stage. But I guess you just have to make your choices.” But don’t you find that after a while you have less and less control over things? “You do have a choice. You can get away. You can say: either I’ll stay here in a predictable world with everything controlled for me or I can close myself off from it.” Do you call that a choice? Being forced to hide? What kind of choice is that? “These days it’s not so difficult though. Things turn around much more quickly now. It’s amazing how quickly people forget. You can have your anonymity back again. These days you don’t have to wait that long. And anyway, there are ways of walking around the streets so you blend in with the crowd. But you have to try harder to be famous these days.” And how does that make you feel? “I feel like a disposable lighter.”🤷🏻‍♀️
