People keep referring to Shou Chew as the “CEO” of TikTok. What they forget is that TikTok’s relationship to ByteDance is the same as YouTube’s relationship to Google. TikTok is not an independent company, it is a ByteDance PRODUCT. A more accurate way to characterize Shou Chew’s role at ByteDance is “TikTok Product Manager”.
