This was the moment I stopped looking at the code at all. I was having a conversation with a co-worker to add the ability to use Remix to a thing he had built and he said "agents don't need frontend libraries anymore". Meanwhile his product was using a backend framework. I thought he was ridiculous, ofc we still need frontend libraries if we need backend libraries--in fact, I find agents are sufficient at backend stuff w/o abstractions! And then it hit me. He and I were the same, just inverted. We believed agents were sufficient for everything we didn't have deep expertise in. I started noticing this pattern with almost every developer around me. I thought about it all the time. I kept wondering which way to go: Does this mean agents aren't good enough at anything? Or are they good enough at everything?! I went with "good enough at everything" and stopped looking at the code, stopped reviewing it directly (asked agents about PRs, how they worked, etc., but I didn't look at the code) Funemployed now, I don't even use a coding environment, I do it all from my dang phone. Teams should probably replace their coding agent editors with a slack channel run by an agent. But the farther we go in this new world the more I question that we'll even be "creating software" at all.
