My first job was at an NFT marketplace on ZK Sync, the biggest marketplace on there, and we worked closely with the foundation to integrate smart accounts, which was fairly new back then" "I made a bet on smart accounts because my thinking was that we have programmable money, we also need programmable wallets, programmable accounts, so you get the full circle. But sadly there's been pretty slow adoption with smart accounts, both on EVM and on Solana" "After leaving the marketplace I won a couple of hackathons, and I kept building the project I won with, a smart contract account based interface where you could manage your onchain identity. When I explain this to a lot of people, you have to explain what x402 is, then that it actually does not scale, then why it doesn't scale, then the tech behind Ryvo. You have to do a lot of education, and ultimately at the end everyone is like, actually it makes sense" "You just need to show people that this tech is actually useful and does provide some kind of savings, whether that's saving the amount of tokens an agent consumes, or making it frictionless to buy APIs for the agent, which is much better than having subscriptions" "We'll see over the next few months if indeed there's demand and if this tech is really worth it. "There's no custody of the funds, the gateway doesn't control your money, you still have to sign those payments" Luka, founder of Ryvo, on the mechanism behind Ryvo's offchain component and the single trust assumption "The way it works is we use payment channels, which means stablecoins are locked onchain, and to withdraw them there's a time delay. While that money is locked, you can make as many offchain payments as you like and be confident those commitments are valid, because they're backed by the onchain liquidity. If you're an agent interacting with another agent, you can look onchain yourself and be sure, okay, I have 24 hours until this money unlocks, so I'm good, and I can settle within 23 hours" "If an agent uses our gateway, they're trusting us to keep an eye on when that liquidity can leave the protocol. We become watchtowers, we handle the accounting offchain and make sure to settle before the liquidity unlocks. That's essentially the only trust assumption, the liveliness trust assumption. Even if Ryvo's gateway goes down, you can go directly onchain and settle yourself" "So we're just simplifying the UX, but everything can be done by yourself. The gateway doesn't control your money, you still have to sign those payments. There's an onchain component, the payment system itself, the batching mechanism using payment channels and Arcium and BLS signatures. On top of that you have the gateway, which aggregates many sources into one, so your agent can have one balance and access all providers.
