For the past few years I've been writing the retrospective Re-Cycle series for @Eurosport_UK on the most compelling, controversial and extraordinary riders & races in cycling history. You can hear @GrahamWillgoss narrate all 51 episodes here: shows.acast.com/re-cycle-the…
Being someone who goes running far, far more than I go cycling, I am always intrigued by retired riders' times in marathons. This is an epic achievement from Tom Dumoulin. It gives me - who shares a similar-ish body shape - hope that I can one day improve my 1hr30 half record 🤣

Two very different worlds collide today as the 30th Solvay Conference on Physics gets under way in Brussels on the day the route of the 2027 Tour de France is announced. Below are the two founding fathers, Ernest Solvay (L) and Henri Desgrange (R) #Solvay#Desgrange#TDF2027
Some context behind while these two monstres sacrés are linked - a connection that perhaps only exists in my niche world where quantum physics and pro cycling have come to reside alongside one another…

My earnest pivot from the pro peloton to quantum physics is gearing up to kilometre zero. I’m off to Brussels next week ahead of the official book launch of ‘The Solvay Spirit’ at the 30th Solvay Conference on Physics 📕 🚀
The fall-out from Tadej Pogacar’s crash in the Vuelta means there’s a new top dog in my annual rider ratings for 2026 – for the first time in four years. But as Mathieu van der Poel misses the cut – and six new riders enter the fray – who takes the Slovenian’s crown? Link below.

Just seen that the bejewelled front cover of Joseph Foret’s L’Apocalypse - which weights a whopping 150kg - has been stolen from a museum in Issoire (Puy-de-Dôme). Published in 1958, it was the world’s most expensive book at the time, valued at 2m francs. lemonde.fr/culture/article/2…
My wife got a new iPhone 16 recently and the battery won't charge. There have been issues with the phone ever since she got it. Today she switched it off & it wouldn't turn back on. When she did a factory reset, it came on but the battery won't charge. Any tips? @AppleSupport
The last few months I've been inundated with requests for a book I wrote in 2013 to be translated or featured on a book club, or for me to appear on a show talking about it. They are all almost certainly hoaxes. But to what end? I recall you mentioning this before @masaccio60...
I'm guessing it's some kind of 'pay-to-play' author scam where the sender impersonates a community organiser to solicit 'participation fees' from authors in exchange for being featured in a book club / considered for fake awards / translated - a new Nigerian inheritance scam?!
