Are journalists supposed to report the news, or manufacture a narrative to rehabilitate Meghan Markle’s image? And is The Sun working overtime to make sure we all get the memo? Clemmie Moodie calls it a “thumping vindication.” The Telegraph pushes the “relief and vindication” angle. Camilla Tominey and Tim Stanley debate whether public opinion of Meghan should change. Jonny Dymond at the BBC discusses the vindication narrative, while Roya Nikkhah at The Sunday Times, Chris Ship at ITV and Matt Wilkinson at The Sun amplify the protective-letter narrative and the Met’s confirmation. The message is unmistakable: we should now understand why Meghan cut contact with her father, and apparently that should change how we view everything else she has done. But vindication of WHAT, exactly? Whatever the truth of the allegations against Thomas Markle, which he denies and which remain under investigation, his situation is a separate family matter. If Meghan had reasons to protect her children, that is one issue. It does not erase seven years of public accusations, interviews, documentaries and grievances directed at the Royal Family. For years, we were given a different account of the estrangement. There were the staged paparazzi photographs, the media cooperation and the private letter that became the subject of a privacy lawsuit. In the 2021 Oprah interview, Meghan spoke about having “lost” her father as part of the cost of becoming a royal. In the Netflix series, Harry said he shouldered the blame because “if Meg wasn’t with me, then her dad would still be her dad.” Those were the explanations presented to the public. Now, with new allegations emerging, we are being served a fresh narrative of maternal protection and long-overdue vindication. So why are journalists not pressing harder on the timeline, the earlier explanations and what the public was told at the time? And why is The Sun working overtime to push this story from allegations against Thomas Markle into a broader rehabilitation of Meghan’s image? Reporting the developments is one thing. Turning them into a redemption arc is quite another. There is also an uncomfortable question surrounding Meghan’s public advocacy for children’s safety and online privacy. If she was aware of serious allegations involving children from 2018 onwards, how does that timeline sit alongside her public campaigning? That is a legitimate question, not an accusation of wrongdoing. Most importantly, what does any of this have to do with her treatment of the Royal Family? The Oprah interview still happened. The Netflix series still happened. The public accusations, the repeated airing of private grievances and the damage to family relationships do not disappear because a disturbing new story has emerged about her father. You can sympathise with a family estrangement without absolving someone of everything else. You can take allegations seriously without pretending every criticism of Meghan was unjustified. The journalists pushing this vindication narrative need to explain why a private family matter is being used to reassess an entirely separate public record. Meghan’s relationship with her father does not rewrite the last eight years. And it certainly does not give her a clean slate. Sympathy is not vindication. Stop confusing the two.

Saint Meghan Markle, so pure, so innocent, so misunderstood. Everyone else is always the problem. The Royal Family was cruel, the press was evil, her father became disposable, family ties were severed, old friendships faded, and allegations about staff treatment emerged. Every time a relationship falls apart, she has a victim narrative ready to go. Apparently the entire world is toxic except the one person who keeps finding herself at the centre of the chaos. She accused the Royal Family of racism, bullying, silencing her and failing to support her. She claimed Catherine made her cry. She painted the institution as a hostile place that drove her to the brink. Yet in 2018 Jason Knauf raised concerns about Meghan’s treatment of two personal assistants. Reports described staff being reduced to tears, a high-pressure environment and people struggling under her management style. Years later the same questions followed her to Hollywood. Sources speaking to The Hollywood Reporter described a boss who belittles people, fumes and barks orders, with one source claiming to have watched her “reduce grown men to tears.” Staff turnover at Archewell was also raised. Then there’s her family. Her father, her half-siblings, the fractured relationships and the endless drama over who said what, who leaked what and who was to blame. Her estrangement from her father was initially framed around press intrusion and staged paparazzi photos. Later, the narrative shifted to protecting her children after serious allegations about him came to light. The relationship was already broken, but the explanation changed. And the friends? Piers Morgan, Lizzie Cundy, Jessica Mulroney, the Beckhams and others. People who were once close, only for those relationships to end or fade. The reasons vary, but the list keeps growing. Staff driven out. Family relationships destroyed. Friendships gone. Royal relationships in ruins. And every time, someone else is blamed. Racism. Bullying. Betrayal. Leaks. The press. The institution. Everyone gets accused, everyone gets blamed, and Meghan gets to play the victim. One person is present in every single case. The common denominator isn’t the royals, the staff, the friends or the media. It’s her. But no, Saint Meghan could never be the problem. Not in her own story. She is always the victim, never the villain. 🙄

If the allegations against Thomas Markle Snr. prove true, charges should be laid and the full force of the law applied. If false, a full retraction and apology are in order. Should Thomas Markle Jnr. be culpable, the same standard must apply. Nobody deserves immunity or special treatment. The allegations against her father are deeply disturbing, but they do not magically erase Meghan Markle’s own history of dishonesty, contradictions and conduct many consider cruel. One does not cancel out the other. The media and Sussex Squad would do well to grasp the elementary distinction between two entirely separate issues. Compassion for a potential victim does not require the suspension of scrutiny elsewhere, nor does it confer retrospective sainthood upon anyone. If Meghan has known about these alleged crimes for years and deliberately remained silent, serious questions must be asked about her responsibility. As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, I find the prospect of someone possessing such knowledge yet failing to act to protect potentially vulnerable children utterly abhorrent. Whether that silence constitutes a criminal offence is for the law to determine. Morally, however, the implications are profoundly disturbing. Childhood sexual abuse is not a public relations inconvenience, a weapon to be kept in reserve or a story to be dusted off when expedient. It is a devastating violation whose scars can endure for a lifetime, affecting almost every aspect of a survivor’s existence. If you possess credible information that a child may be at risk, the responsibility to act must transcend personal grievances, reputation and self-interest. A child’s welfare must come first. Always. Not when convenient, not when public sympathy beckons, and certainly not when the revelation serves one’s own narrative. If Meghan has possessed this information for years, the questions are simple. What did she know, when did she know it, and what did she do to protect those potentially at risk? To remain silent whilst children may be vulnerable, only to invoke such horrors when they serve one’s own purposes, would represent a staggering failure of moral responsibility. Treating a matter this grave as another opportunity to occupy the moral high ground is repugnant. Child abuse is not a stage upon which to perform victimhood. A child’s suffering is not a prop, their safety is not a bargaining chip, and their trauma does not exist to furnish anyone with a more compelling personal narrative. If these allegations are true, let there be justice. If false, let there be accountability for the damage done. And if anyone knowingly allowed children to remain at risk when they could have raised the alarm, let that conduct be examined with the seriousness it deserves. I speak as a survivor. The consequences of childhood sexual abuse do not disappear when the world stops talking about them. That is precisely why this matter demands the utmost seriousness, not exploitation for personal advantage. Children deserve protection, not silence. Advocates, not spectators. Adults prepared to do what is right, however inconvenient or personally costly. Anything less is an appalling betrayal of those who most desperately need protecting.

Meghan Markle wrote her estranged father a final letter while he was in hospital after his amputation, telling him she knew about the child sex abuse allegations, that authorities were aware, and that he’d never meet Archie or Lilibet. Tyler Perry is Lilibet’s godfather — the man who housed them, provided security, and was close enough that they named him godfather after he reached out to her before the wedding. Perry has been hit with multiple sexual assault lawsuits from male actors/models (Derek Dixon seeking $260M, Mario Rodriguez seeking $77M). Dixon is of Irish descent; Rodriguez is Puerto Rican/Mexican-American. Both are light-skinned. Perry denies the claims. Has Meghan (or Harry) written to Perry about these allegations the way she wrote her father? Or is the letter-writing and “protect the children” stance only for blood relatives? Reports indicate silence and no contact since the lawsuits surfaced. Curious if the standard applies equally.

I’ve had enough of the whole Markle drama. The whole saga has descended into something resembling an episode of The Jerry Springer Show. We have allegations of an extremely disturbing nature being made against Thomas Markle, his son publicly accusing him, claims that Meghan knew about the allegations for 8 years, but never told anyone, and Samantha Markle defending her father. It is an absolute shit show of epic proportions, a sordid mess of accusations, counterclaims, family feuds and conflicting accounts. Quite frankly, the whole thing has become a circus, with deeply serious allegations being almost forgotten in all this mess. And given this family’s long history of public disputes, contradictions and accusations against one another, I think we should be extremely cautious about accepting anybody’s version of events at face value. Now I will add, there has been no confirmed police investigation into these particular claims, no publicly verified examination of the alleged evidence and no established criminal findings against Thomas Markle. That doesn’t mean the allegations are necessarily false, any more than making them means they must be true. There are questions and apparent inconsistencies that deserve proper scrutiny, but those are matters for investigators and not the media, who are in full swing pushing their ‘Saint Meghan’ routine and we all must apologise to her. Sorry, but she did have a responsibility to ensure something was being looked into given the nature of these alleged crimes. As Harry said ‘Silence only allows the abuser to abuse’. We are talking about allegations involving the sexual exploitation of children, among the most serious accusations imaginable, you don’t sit on your hands with information like that.

Meghan Markle, were you silent or were you silenced when it came to your father? “If you are complacent, you’re complicit.” Those are your words from 2020. You also said the only wrong thing to say is to say nothing. Your husband has argued that silence only allows the abuser to abuse. You have never struggled to find your voice when the subject was the royal family. Interviews, documentaries, speeches, private conversations aired publicly, institutional failures dissected at length. For years, you insisted that silence was the problem and that using one’s voice was the remedy. But when it came to the troubling allegations concerning your own father, where was that voice? You say you learned about them years ago and were assured they were being investigated. Yet the Metropolitan Police has confirmed it was not investigating your father and did not pass the allegations to other law enforcement agencies. So who gave you those assurances, and what exactly were you led to believe was happening? You continued speaking at length about the royal family, institutional failures and the importance of protecting children, while remaining publicly silent about these allegations. How does that square with your own declaration that complacency makes people complicit? Protecting your own children is not the issue. The issue is the seven-to-eight-year public silence that followed while you continued to speak freely about every other failure you wished to highlight. You have spent years positioning yourself as an advocate for children’s safety and an opponent of institutional inaction. Yet when it came to allegations involving your own father, your explanation is that you trusted someone else was handling it. You do not get to set the standard that complacency equals complicity and then treat your own silence as exempt. You do not get to demand accountability from the royal family, the media, and every institution you have criticised while offering “I trusted the authorities” as a sufficient explanation for years of silence. You do not get to speak at length about the duty to protect vulnerable children and then leave unanswered what, exactly, you understood was being done for other children during those years. If the principle is real, it is not selective. If the voice was available for years of royal commentary, it was available here too. So again: were you silent or were you silenced? Because on the royal family, you were never short of words. And by your own standard, silence was never supposed to be the acceptable choice. telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

MI didn’t say anything in eight years because legal advice told her to not interfere with an investigation. Also M…. I sent my father a letter in 2025 saying he won’t see his grandchildren because I know he’s an abuser. The media are stupid. The rest of us have common sense. Her fans are stupid. This woman is stupid. The truth will eventually all come out . But the amount of holes in this woman’s story is insane.

Restricting your replies won’t save a fairy tale that collapses under basic arithmetic and British policing law. Let’s actually read the BBC statement you’re frantically misrepresenting: Receipt Does Not Equal Investigation: Protection Command didn’t "investigate" a thing. They simply logged an unsolicited letter in January 2019 alleging matters outside the UK and forwarded it to the Sussex office purely for security awareness. That is routine clerical mail-routing, not a Scotland Yard dossier or an FBI joint operation. Jurisdiction: The Met doesn't refer unevidenced overseas claims about US citizens in Mexico to foreign agencies because London bobbies do not police North America. Waving intelligence treaties in a desperate tweet doesn't grant London global jurisdiction. The Fatal Timeline Bust: The Met received that letter in January 2019. How on earth did she brutally sever ties with her father in summer 2018 to "protect" unborn children over a letter the Met didn't even lay eyes on until six months later? Slapping a padlock on your replies because your Hollywood script has gaping plot holes is peak cowardice. You cannot redact the calendar, darling! 🗓️🚪📉

She couldn’t talk to the public about it or save other people’s children. But she wrote to the abuser? Wait! Didn’t yall say she couldn’t hinder an active investigation? What was it she did by saying that in the letter in December 2025? This is not making sense.

They acted on it. They sent it to the agency in charge of your security then. What were they supposed to do? Tell interpol to arrest & extradite your father, a US citizen, from Mexico for crimes he committed in Mexico & US? They had no jurisdiction unless he was in UK. Smh

This may have been intended to generate sympathy for Meghan, but it has backfired big time. Instead of quiet understanding, the story has become another debate about her public image—and she is once again at the centre of an issue that should be about the allegations, possible victims, and the authorities’ handling of the information. First, Meghan said the letter was from 2018. The Met’s record says it received the letter in January 2019, and her spokesperson then said she may have been mistaken by a few months. Fine—but after the original statement, the date clarification, and now more comments about how she feels, there have been so many statements that the focus keeps shifting back to Meghan. She says she relied on assurances that the allegations were being investigated. The Met says the letter was passed to the Sussexes’ office for their awareness, was not shared with other law-enforcement agencies, and is now under review. Those are serious questions. But the repeated statements are turning this into a PR story about Meghan rather than keeping attention on the facts and the people who may have been harmed. To me, the sympathy strategy has backfired. People are questioning the timing and the framing instead of simply rallying around her. Keep the focus on what is established, what remains unverified, what the authorities did, and whether anyone who may have been harmed is being protected. Stop talking meghan, it’s enough. You are putting yourself in more situation. Damn you are really an idiot #MeghanMarkle #MetPolice #RoyalNews #Sussexes

Living in the UK and having this little grasp of British policing is frankly embarrassing. Let’s fix the script with actual UK law: Protection Command ≠ CID: Personal Protection Officers manage physical security, not global criminal inquiries. When unsolicited post arrives regarding alleged overseas conduct involving US citizens, logging it and passing it to the principal for awareness is routine clerical protocol. Jurisdiction: Scotland Yard has zero statutory remit to refer unverified overseas claims to foreign agencies like the FBI. If the recipient genuinely believed there was a crime, they had high-priced US lawyers who could have reported it. The Fatal Timeline: The Met received that letter in January 2019. How on earth did she sever ties with her father in summer 2018 over a letter the Met didn't even lay eyes on until six months later? Childish mock dialogue won't bend the laws of the calendar, darling! 🗓️🚪📉

Blimey, this one is hilarious! Chris, read Scotland Yard’s official statement against her text: The Letter Date: Her statement claims the letter was sent in 2018. The Metropolitan Police confirmed on record they received it in January 2019. The "Assurances": She claims she was given assurances it was "being investigated". The Met explicitly stated Protection Command did not investigate, had no remit to investigate overseas allegations, and simply logged and forwarded it for security awareness. The Court Receipts: In her High Court litigation over the August 2018 letter, she swore under oath it was sent to stop him talking to paparazzi and protect the royals from embarrassment. Zero mention of safeguarding. You can't demand an apology based on a PR statement that Scotland Yard dismantled within 24 hours! 🗓️🚪

I genuinely think that people who keep insisting that William should forgive Harry have never experienced a family rift serious enough to understand why someone might choose to cut contact with a family member, regardless of who that person is.
Cynics may disagree but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do seem serious about reconciling with the Royal Family. They are prepared to apologise if necessary and will not undertake public charity visits while the King and William are abroad on trips. inews.co.uk/news/hidden-thre…

Thomas Markles 1st wife sent the letter to Met police? Why would she send the letter to a UK Police department when Thomas is a US citizen living in Mexico? Surely if you suspect your ex of committing vile crimes, you’d report him to the police in the Country he lives in? 🤷‍♀️

A "collective apology" for what, exactly? For believing her own sworn statements in the High Court? Under oath, she testified that she wrote the August 2018 "Dear Daddy" letter to stop him doing press interviews and to protect the Royal Family from embarrassment. Not a single word about police warnings, safeguarding, or criminal claims. The Met didn't even log that unsolicited letter until January 2019. An apology doesn't suddenly rewrite eight years of public court filings, chronological reality, and her relentless attacks on the late Queen and the working royals. Clickbait headline, zero substance! 🗞️🚪📉

It’s getting worse for Meghan Markle. She revealed to @TheSun that she wrote a letter to her father about the child sex abuse last December. So, she couldn’t talk to the public about it or warn Philippine, Mexican or U.S. authorities in an effort to save other people’s children. But she wrote to the abuser? Wait! Didn’t yall say she couldn’t hinder an active investigation? What was it she did by saying that in the letter in December 2025? This is not making sense. Meghan Markle is a paedophile enabler!

Long read! It took Scotland Yard less than 24 hours to detonate Montecito’s most shameless attempt at historical revisionism. Friday: Out came the imperious, violin-backed proclamation: she severed ties with her father in 2018 for “one reason only: to protect our children” after Scotland Yard supposedly briefed her on appalling allegations and assured her an investigation was underway. The staged pap photos? The tacky wedding leaks? Banished. Retroactively scrubbed into an act of spotless maternal martyrdom. Saturday morning: Scotland Yard pulled the actual, time-stamped receipts: • Not 2018—January 2019. • No active investigation. • No foreign force alerts. • No child welfare referral. Protection Command essentially took one look, marked it ‘outside our jurisdiction’, and dumped a copy onto Harry’s desk “for awareness.” Saturday afternoon: Enter the frantic, humiliating climbdown. Suddenly, the woman who preserved forensic drafts to prove she was "meticulous in my word choice" for the High Court—and who famously kept a UK journal—wants everyone to believe a five-month black hole on the single most explosive allegation of her life was just a harmless senior moment because she didn't check a “diaried record.” It’s an insult to everyone’s intelligence. In August 2018, she sent her father a calligraphy-scripted, five-page FedEx letter weeping about him breaking her heart over staged photos and press interviews. Are we genuinely expected to believe royal protection handed her a grave criminal warning, and her response was to write him a tear-stained reprimand about tabloid interviews? She didn’t cut him off to protect phantom children in 2018; she cut him off because he ruined her royal wedding aesthetics. She saw Tom Jnr’s sordid, unverified claims as a golden ticket to rewrite seven years of brutal family vindictiveness into a heroic rescue mission. Instead, she sprinted headfirst into a Met Police timestamp. If Thomas Snr walks away cleared of this, there isn't a PR firm on earth capable of digging her out of the crater she just willingly dove into.

Let’s be clear: I don’t care whether Meghan ever sees her father again. That is her decision, and it has nothing to do with why I don’t like her. My issue is how she treated the Royal Family—then went on to make serious public accusations and share private family matters with the world. You can call it her truth; I see a profound betrayal of trust. That is what I find unforgivable. So stop using her relationship with her father as a distraction from the real issue. She is entitled to keep her distance from him. I’m entitled to judge her by how she treated the family she married into—and I haven’t forgotten it. No matter what she does, I will never forget the heartbreak she and Harry caused the late Queen and Prince Philip. She had all this drama yet she attempted to destroy the Royal family. Harry sat beside her and helped her. She will get no sympathy from me concerning this allegations. Disgusting humanitarian, Meghan the advocate for girl child indeed. What a disgrace #MeghanMarkle #ThomasMarkle #PrinceHarry #Sussexes
