Climate hawks have one thing on our side: the cost of clean energy is going down all the time. But we also have big hurdles: the energy transition requires a lot of building, and we don’t have time on our side. We have to pass this permitting bill this Congress!
Actual climate scientist here. The permitting reform bill was introduced by Senate climate champions like @SenWhitehouse. It will reduce US emissions. We don't have the luxury to make the perfect the enemy of the good – which time and time again has led to doing nothing at all.

Replying to @willpoffwebster
it has given me whiplash to see the same people who say “we are in a climate crisis, we don’t have the luxury of waiting for action” now turn around and say we can wait for a speculative better permitting proposal in 2029

And why can’t we just pass another more extreme version in 2029? I really don’t get it Other than trump accountability the Dems should really be maxing out on abundance because not only will it be good but it won’t help trump politically at all and will help us in 29 and on

The "lets negotiate from a position of strength next congress" is literally arguing "Sen. Mike Lee will be super reasonable and work with us if we spike his bill this year"
