Sam Ruby's Roundhouse transpile Rails app to plain Ruby (or other languages) without metaprogrammig. And Spinel can compile transpiled Ruby code. Not all Rails apps yet, but at least we can compile Campfire and Lobster. See github.com/rubys/roundhouse

Last night I gave Claude a task and went to bed. At 11:49 P.M. EDT Claude opened github.com/matz/spinel/issue… . @yukihiro_matz closed the issue 26 minutes and 36 seconds later at 1:16 P.M. JST. This fix substantially unblocked my progress the next morning when I woke up.

In June @yukihiro_matz rewrote Spinel, his AOT Ruby compiler, from Ruby to C. In July it took 200s on a 40k-line Rails app anyway — O(N²) survives translation. Two days and 5 PRs later: 5.3s, including a fixpoint that had never once converged.
