If you have never been through a storm, you may not truly know how to overcome one. It is only in the heart of the storm that you receive the strength needed to rise above it.

❗❌"Doctor, it's because I'm thinking too much, that is why the blood pressure is high" ❗❌"Doctor, I don't have hypertension ohhh, it's high BP I get" ❗❌"Guy, na only old people dey get hypertension, you better drink, make you enjoy life now". Today, we need to send all these thoughts to Sambisa forest so that we can embrace a healthier perspective. Are you ready? Oya, bring your ears closer. Do you know those people that will just be walking ohh without being sick before and will fall down and die? There's a possibility that it's hypertension that killed them. Yes. Hypertension often has NO symptoms. You may not feel headaches. You may not feel dizzy. You may not feel weak. This is why it's often called the SILENT KILLER. Therefore, the only reliable way to know your blood pressure is to CHECK IT. Do you know that 1 out of every 2 people in Nigeria who are hypertensive don't even know they're hypertensive. What does it mean? If 200 people come to the hospital for something else and the BP of 100 people was elevated, 50 from those 100 would have known before and the remaining 50 wouldn't know they're a walking time bomb. What does this mean? Please, carry chair siddown abeg This is a thread

This is one of the most difficult things in practice. -You'd think about what more could have been done especially if the patient and relatives has been forthcoming with management plans. -You think about the fleeting reality of life. -While you're still carrying these labyrinth of emotions, you continue with the next patient.
Going to tell relatives that you are sorry but their person is dead l, never in a million years gets easier….. Today I wept like I child, mourning the life I couldn’t save, grateful for the ones I could save…

Me: "Does he sleep under mosquito net?" Patient's mother: "Ahhhh no Doctor, we don't have mosquitoes at all in our house ohh". Me: In my mind(Ahahhh, it's plenreyyy for who is living in Aso Rock ohhh) (To patient's mother): "Ehnehnn, madam you must be a special breed oh for mosquitoes to sign undertaken that they won't be disturbing you in this Nigeria. Then she laughs. I'd then go ahead to inform, educate and counsel. Let's get started. Do you know that there's a malaria death every 12seconds somewhere in the world? 1 child dies of malaria somewhere in Africa every 20s. In 2024, an estimated 184,930 people died from malaria in Nigeria, making Nigeria the country with the highest malaria mortality burden globally as published by the WHO. Is this not alarming for you? I'm not done ohhhh. A thread.

When I was doing my O and G posting at the State hospital of the city I'm in, On a day scheduled for elective CSs , I was the one who came to tell the attendants on the ward to wheel this patient to the theatre. I was even joking and playing with her that she was pretty and I'm sure her baby would be pretty like her too. They had not paid a considerable part of the fee and my Oga just decided to do it since the pregnancy was post term already in the hopes that they'd balance up while on the ward. As we left for the theatre, the husband was calling different people to help source for money and I had this impression to tell him not to do that until after the surgey but I just shrugged it off. I was to do that CS but my Oga told me to go to the other suite and assist someone else instead which I reluctantly agreed to. We finished our own case and I left to the call room to rest until my colleague called me to come backto the theatre. After Surgery, she was in the recovery room when she was given a medication for the pains she complained about, had a seizure and died.🥺🥺 As if that wasn't enough, the baby at the NICU died after the 4th day😭😭🥱 Her face is still in my head as we speak.😞
I resumed duty one day and met a patient who was being prepared for surgery. We talked, joked and played together. I prepared him for theatre and even made his bed, expecting him to return. He never came back. This is the part of nursing people rarely see. You can laugh with a patient, prepare their bed for their return, and a few hours later, you’re being told they didn’t make it. I feel so bad right now.

Men stop tolerating badly behaved ladies and their entitlement mentality to your money. Women stop enabling low quality men and their entitlement to your body. Let's raise the family structure again.

I love this. When depression is in the news Everybody: "Talk to someone, talk to someone " Who to talk to when the people to talk to are the ones: -Gossiping -They're the classists who are shaming others -They're the ones mocking who failed -They're the ones profiling and platforming. Let's stop the hypocrisy together and practise a life of love in every sense of it.
I love Brain Jotter skits. It always teaches a lot of life lesson 😂👏

😭 Do you know that 512 out of 100,000 women die during Childbirth from Nigeria demographic health survey in 2023? That's a lot!🥺 One of the things causing this is that pregnant women don't present to the hospital early enough with their symptoms- they go late. Here are 5 symptoms any pregnant woman must not joke with & that could lead to her death if urgent medical care is not sought after. 1) Headaches 2) Fever 3) Vaginal bleeding 4) Abdominal pain 5) Chest pain. Every day of the week from tomorrow, would be talking about each of them telling you why you mustn't joke with them. Pregnancy isn't a disease and we must all do the work of stopping our pregnant women from dying like a chicken.🤲 If you're the husband, a friend, a sister or sister in-law, a neighbour, a colleague, the Pastor or Alfa to a pregnant woman, please turn on your notifications as well as repost so you won't miss out on something that can help that pregnant woman around you. Thank you. ❤ I'm Dr Glow, a Passionate Family Physician who wants you to lead a holistic life as well as cultivate a wholesome family dynamics.

This is heartbreaking 💔 Mrs. Olaleye was joyfully dancing and praising God for the safe rescue of the abducted Oriire teachers and students, unaware that her husband, Mr. John Olaleye, had already been killed by the kidnappers in the forest on the first Sunday of June. May God comfort the family he left behind and grant them strength during this painful time.
