I’m very excited about this. Coming next to the Neon backend: realtime. Sync is incredibly hard to get right - especially if the goal is to make it great to work with, support as many database query use cases as possible, and scale well. Sync coming to Neon was probably obvious to many after our announcement that the Electric team is joining Databricks but we can finally announce it officially today! The Neon backend is GA. A complete set of primitives for apps and agents built around the database, with open standards, no lock-in, and branching-first by design. Starting with: Lakebase Postgres, Object Storage, Functions, Managed Better Auth, and AI Gateway. More to come.

Interesting read for my fellow database nerds, we’ve been reworking the cache path in Lakebase Postgres. Larger shared buffers + huge pages have lowered latency & storage reads with some production workloads on large fixed computes seeing up to 2× throughput. databricks.com/blog/improvin…

I haven't built one single thing in 2026 that didn't have a use case for MCP

Customers immediately reported improvements in production. Example: this real-world workload shows ~2× throughput, 5× fewer reads from storage after implementing the new configuration

We added 64 new tools to the Neon MCP server and shipped @neon/tools - a new agent tools SDK for MCP, Mastra and Eve. Also, I guess we built a software factory in the process. Notes: 1. MCP is more important than ever. With progressive tool discovery, large tool lists are much less of a concern. It’s time to expose your entire platform to agents 2. Raw API spec → code generation isn’t enough for complex APIs. Generated clients for infra providers are too low level. You still need an ergonomic layer with higher-level abstractions for MCP (and CLI) 3. Building that layer is cheaper than ever with coding agents. We combined deterministic code generation with coding agents to go from OpenAPI spec → raw SDK → ergonomic layer → @𝚗𝚎𝚘𝚗/𝚝𝚘𝚘𝚕𝚜

Kinda a bummer that CREATE PROPERTY GRAPH and GRAPH_TABLE won’t ship in PostgreSQL 19. But PG 19 is still going to be a huge release.

Last year we thought that turning an OpenAPI spec into an MCP server was a shaky default. We’ve sort of changed our mind:
