I don't understand why hackers, whose freedom depends on their ability to transact privately, keep choosing $XMR over ZEC.
Don't they know that Zcash has an ETF, is cypherpunk™ , and optional transparency so they can easily sell their coins on KYCd regulated exchanges??

On supply/emissions, Monero has a yearly inflation rate of 0.8%, thats lower than gold, same as bitcoin currently, while Zcash's is 4% inflation per year.
Also nobody uses Zcash, and its not quantum proof.

Researchers reproduced a Monero eclipse attack in simulation. Countermeasures are being tested, including larger peer lists and better peer selection.
rucknium and gingeropolous reproduced the Nyx eclipse in monerosim; countermeasures are under test. Attack needs ~1,000 IPs, each in its own /24. No mainnet Nyx signature in recent scans. Detectability: attacker must stuff reachable white lists, biasing honest peerlists.

A Bulletproofs+ proof gap was found and rigorously fixed by researchers Wang and Liu, strengthening Monero’s cryptography.
.@MagicGrants commissioned Dr. Wang after an earlier CCS review found a proof gap but treated the theorem as fine in practice without a rigorous write-up. Wang/Liu supplied a rigorous repair. ack-j said MAGIC is happy with Wang’s group.
