From purely a fan perspective, the AFL rules seem good. A rough model projects fewer singles and more extra-base hits. Hitters are rewarded for hard contact. Fielders are forced to field. What am I missing?

The MLB strike zone this year is smaller than it was last year, and last year's zone was significantly smaller than it was in 2024. This year's adjustment at the bottom of the zone is I believe largely tied to the shift from front of plate measurements to mid-plate.

The Cubs lead the league in Pull-Air % (21.7%), HRs (198) and wRC+ (115) They aren't mentioned. Probably nothing.
Driveline changed how baseball develops hitters. But what happens to the players it hasn’t fixed? Months of reporting on Kristian Campbell, a changing coaching profession, voices afraid to speak out and a sport wrestling with what works and what doesn’t. cbssports.com/mlb/news/polar…
