UK/EU Session Update: #ZN
US 10yrs are not out of the woods yet.
Despite yields pulling back slightly into the close, we're still very much hovering around the key 105's in notes.
Whether the Fed has killed further selling could be decided today.
If that's the case, we could easily see a rally back to the 107's.
And where yields go, the dollar will likely follow.
Today's a day to assess whether the market is happy with where the Fed is now, or whether it feels the Fed needs to do much more.

🚨 Waller is putting the focus back on inflation.
If inflation stays high, the Fed has less reason to cut rates. That would normally weigh on US 10Y futures #ZN and support the $USD.
If inflation cools, #ZN would likely benefit and the $USD could come under pressure.
Tomorrow’s NFP still matters, but inflation remains the bigger driver for the Fed.
🇺🇸 Fed Governor Christopher Waller says he is leaning towards keeping rates unchanged in September if upcoming inflation data continues to show progress.

🇺🇸 This is now Bessent’s third attempt in less than a week to cap the long end.
Each intervention has become more forceful and, so far, #ZB is still holding the bid.
Traders now believe Treasury may keep stepping in to support long dated bonds (i.e. #ZN and #ZB futures). In simple terms, if a big buyer keeps showing up, sellers are less willing to push prices lower.
🇺🇸 Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will do “whatever it takes” to put the “fear of God” into bond vigilantes shorting the long end of the Treasury curve, according to @CGasparino, citing Wall Street executives familiar with Bessent’s thinking.
