The other day I was in the subway to get to my uni. As usual, I was playing some Clash but I saw a girl who just looked like this, sitting across me. Found her cute but didn't think much about it, though pretty sure she realized i was looking at her.
Usually the train is nigh empty towards the last 10-ish stops, so it was surprising to me she was still there at the same spot. A couple stops later, we were the only 2 people I could see in our cart. I was supposed to land in the next stop, but the moment I got up from my seat, she started staring at me.
I went up to her, thinking she wanted to say something. Maybe they knew me from somewhere or confused me with someone else. Checked my own past memories just in case, but to no avail. I was sure I hadn't seen her ever before.
Right after I got next to her, she pulled me to the seat to her left and laid her face to my lap. No words, no nothing. Then I found myself petting her head. I didn't even realize I was doing that for a while, like it was almost instinctive. She seemed fine with it too.
I don't know why I did all that. At this point I was several stops past where I was supposed to leave the train and would be late to my class. But this felt... worth it. Like a break from all the insanity of life, and get to relax a bit, even though it was with someone I didn't know. Then my eyes started tearing up cuz I never had a girlfriend, or even a hooker. This was the closest thing I felt to female attention.
Suddenly I hear a loud bang at the other side of the cart, the entrance to the driver's cabin, followed up by fast footsteps. Before I knew it, the driver was next to me, pointing a gun at the girl.
Then he yelled "YOU WILL NEVER HAVE THIS" and shot her. Amongst the shock, I realized the driver was none other than Mr. Bibi Netanyahu.

A loaf buried beneath hot ash sounds like a mistake. In rural Chile, it is breakfast. Tortilla de rescoldo is made from wheat flour, lard and salt, then placed directly among the embers until it develops a smoky, charred crust while staying soft and dense inside. Once cooked, the ash is scraped away and the bread is eaten warm, usually with butter, cheese, pebre or eggs. It is an old countryside technique that needs no oven, just a well-managed fire and someone experienced enough to know exactly when the bread is ready.
