We build large scale gpu clusters and sell them on contracts you can sublease.

We're announcing Elastic InfiniBand Partitions in SFC. You can now get RDMA connected nodes reserved, change plans, and sell your whole contract on the fly. That’s not “sell to spot”, that’s “sell the whole contract”. Launch the 30-day hero run on Monday, hit the snag on Tuesday, get out of the contract on Wednesday. Running a PaaS and your customers need their own partitions? Create thousands of partitions, one for each customer. Lots of providers give IB, but all on the same partition, which means it’s not secure enough for production. sfcompute.com/news/elastic-i…

Hiring 2 people to join my team at @sfcompute. One person to help me with supply-side compute deals and another to manage cluster stand-up. If you're bullish on AI infra, compute markets, sovereign AI, like to win, and get back up quickly when you don't, drop me a line. jobs.ashbyhq.com/sfcompute

right now, buying compute is just an absolutely awful experience, regardless of who you buy from. it's backroom deals, backed up supply chains, broken hardware, and large, risky purchases in a high stress environment. san francisco compute exists to try and solve these problems. our team has grown from the tiny ai lab that was desperately just trying to sublease our cluster, to a force to be reckoned with: real veterans of the industry, the same folks that built & financed the other neoclouds. our team is incredible & has produced some remarkable work that i'm really excited to celebrate, but we haven't solved the problem yet. we have solved a few things, but our jobs not done. i often don't talk about sfc's success because even though we have grown ridiculously fast, there is still just so much more ahead of us. we see the hard technical problems that accompany supercomputing and the nasty financial problems that accompany its financing as linked. the path to scaling ai is through safety. the bottleneck of ai is risk and our mission is to reduce that risk. it's a tricky, nuanced problem that requires bright minds. if you're one of those, we'd love for you to join us at the san francisco compute company. we have a long way to go

financial vs commercial is the divide in compute markets. financial players trade standardized, cash-settled exposure to compute. but commercial users need more - specifics on location, topology, security posture, etc. it's effectively built-to-order. details are basis risk to a financial trader, but make or break the product for an operator. the Hugging Face incident reminds us that seemingly small differences in compute delivery become enormous operational and security problems. efforts like @sfcompute push toward actual physical compute markets, not just financial exposure.

The average on-platform customer on San Francisco Compute currently gets a 25% realized discount from using SFC. That means if you bought GPUs from us at $4.5/gpu/hour, you end up realizing a price closer to $3.3/hr.

hi! please meet givemeanode.com! it's a new autoresearch product from the san francisco compute company. try asking it to "download insert-model-here off huggingface and optimize it 4x and don't stop until it's done." let it run for days. you know those massive grab bag of black magic tricks others do? we want to let you do that too, for cheap. lets let anyone train models. it's backed by a big, fair queue that makes sure nobody can just buy out the whole thing, so there's always space for experiments. struggling to get gpus? try here <3 it's not just a business promise, it's how the product works! it doesn't require you to sign some big long reserved contract for years, where you're betting your balance sheet on your gpu bill, because it's backed by the liquidity of sfcompute. it's built for ridiculous redundancy & reliability. jobs can die and restart from the same point & the scheduler keeps headroom for you. even the platform itself going down does not stop your agent, because we've built ticketing straight into the mcp that lets your agent recover from outages. we've taken the thing offline, started it up again, and agent-supervised training runs just keep on going. it's got platform-native support for grant programs, meaning you can buy capacity, and sponsor other accounts. it's got s3 compatible storage, hugging face integrations, scratch disks & persistent volumes, clock locking, ncu support, metrics, logs, traces, checkpointing, and a whole grab bag of other stuff. but you shouldn't worry about that. let your agent sweat those details. we'd love for you to try it, DM me for some GPU credits if you'd like!

We're launching a new series on the Village Global Podcast: Worldbuilders. Guest hosted by @sumeet724 — Founder & Managing Partner of Worldbuild — Worldbuilders explores rabbit holes that might turn out to be tunnels into the future. First up is a conversation with @evanjconrad , Founder & CEO of @sfcompute. SF Compute started as an audio model company. They bought a year-long GPU contract, used it for one month, and had to sublease the rest or go bankrupt. Now they're building supercomputers. A few highlights from the episode: "The current scale of the GPU buildout is the largest infrastructure project in the history of the world. It is larger than the cost of wars. It is multiple times the Apollo project." "The bubble isn't in the GPU cloud. The bubble is in whoever owns the equity of those companies that just raised a whole big round. Because if they don't succeed, they can't get that capital back." "We are the company that takes no bullshit. You will never see us say we're gonna democratize compute. We sell GPUs. We rent them to you. The reason why you use us — price, reliability."
