If one massacres 1,000 people and plunge them into a massive war, where young people are called up to fight for years, you get right wing young people
It’s a lesson. Don’t murder 1,000 people in a single day, don’t massacre young people at a music festival and force their brothers and sisters to arms for years of grueling war
If you murder people and all their families have to go off to war then the young generation will become steel and they will vote “right wing” because you have turned them into steel through the fire of war
Being a nice progressive lefty is a privilege of not having to shoulder a rifle to defend one’s home ; put people under rocket fire for years and they will vote accordingly
In most countries, young voters are more left-wing than their right-wing elders.
In Israel it's the reverse.

And that their political choices would be far more Right than those at the festival?
Don’t murder people dancing at a festival if you don’t want their people to become hardened
Those people were more left leaning; think about it
You want to harden someone’s heart? Murder all their friends and family and people they know, and they will grow hard and they will strike back

The father of the Polish airborne forces died on 25 September 1967 in London.
It is well worth visiting his monument in Jordan Park in Kraków. The park is home to a unique gallery - indeed a pantheon - of more than 50 busts of Polish heroes.

Nonsense, it’s obviously a Vietnam allegory
The incompetence of the leaders of the unit; the abuse of the prisoner ; the concept of the “good cajuns”; the decency of the lowest enlisted men thrust into horror; the abuse of the local population and then grudging respect for them ; lost in a jungle wasteland
It can be said to be one of the best Vietnam films
Walter Hill loved making Westerns; you probably just didn’t clock it. Southern Comfort is one of his best.
Some read it as a Vietnam allegory. Hill refused to endorse that, and reportedly threatened to fire anyone who tried to “play that metaphor.”
It actually works as an anti-Western: instead of celebrating the myth of “taming” the frontier, it argues the opposite. The frontier can’t be subdued by force or arrogance, and those who try may be swallowed by it.
