⚠️ 🇺🇦 🇷🇺 A massive Ukrainian long-range strike operation is underway against Russia tonight. Preliminary mapping shows Ukrainian attack drones moving across multiple regions and along several different axes deep into Russian territory. The map also indicates Ukrainian USV activity, suggesting a coordinated maritime component to the operation.
Russian sources are currently reporting approximately 430 drones. That number remains preliminary and could change substantially as the night develops, while the mapped flight paths are also highly approximate.
It is just after midnight in Ukraine and western Russia. The operation is ongoing.

We’re getting word that the first airlines have started to suspend flights to Russian airports following our announcement about the drone hazard that objectively exists in Russian airspace.
This is the right and perfectly logical response to the facts as they are – to everything stemming from the war Putin doesn’t want to end. Lives must be protected. Ukraine has already officially informed international organizations and our partners about the real situation in Russian airspace.

Ukraine has officially notified @icao that the Russian airspace is not safe for civilian aviation because of increased military activity. We urge everyone to avoid it.
Russia has been deliberately ignoring the existing threats as a result of its aggression against Ukraine, which has already led to several incidents in the past years.
Against the backdrop of Russia’s drastic escalation of terror against Ukraine, Russian airspace is becoming increasingly unsafe.
This is our responsible decision to notify ICAO and all airlines, and governments to take caution — even if Russia refuses to fulfill its responsibility to inform them. We want to prevent unintended incidents.
The war is returning home to Russia. Ukraine exercises its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

It was from Russia that the first missiles and the first drones came, and they crossed our country’s border from Russian airspace. This escalation cannot and will not remain confined to Ukrainian territory.
Today, we want to warn every airline that uses Russian airspace, every insurer, and everyone who still uses Russia’s key airports: Russian airspace is becoming completely unsafe. Ukraine does not threaten civilian aviation as such – not a single civilian aircraft. There will simply be drones in Russia’s skies on a scale that has to be taken into account. Although the Russian authorities are not properly informing people about this, Russian airspace will effectively be closing – the war started by Russia is closing its skies.
We in Ukraine do not want innocent lives to be lost. That is why we are warning our partners: the safe days in Russia’s skies are over. It is important that this is heard by the ambassadors of countries represented here in Ukraine, as well as by ambassadors working in Moscow. Every one of them knows exactly what Russia’s war means for our country and our people, and they must convey this information to their capitals. It is important that the airlines currently flying to airports primarily in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and other key destinations in Russia hear this as well.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and our other institutions will provide international organizations with full information about the dangers in Russian airspace. Drone-infested skies are no place for civilian aviation.
