Going to be very self indulgent and say that it was entirely clear that in 2023 that while there were valid critiques, the people most criticising Google were those who had most to gain 1) VCs investing in competitors 2) people who left to found ~"competitors" The biggest winner of Goog's AI models is Google itself. They've got the hardware (TPUs), they've got the models (lots), they've got the distribution (biig).
