just saw a famous influencer with 1.8 MILLION followers post an AI-generated video of ni-ki in indian attire, and somehow the comments are filled with people enabling and encouraging it as if this is completely normal. genuinely, what are we doing?
the way peopleβs faces and likenesses are being fed into generative AI so casually is already incredibly concerning. if you want to experiment with YOUR OWN face, do whatever you want. thatβs your decision. but taking another real person, someone who doesnβt know you, has nothing to do with you and doesnβt even know you exist, and feeding their likeness into AI to manufacture something YOU wanted to see is incredibly disrespectful and invasive.
being famous does not suddenly give strangers authority over your face or body. there is a difference between fan art/edits and using generative AI to manufacture realistic content of an actual human being doing something they never did. once we start treating that as harmless and normal, weβre also normalizing a technology that can be used to create increasingly invasive, misleading and harmful content using someoneβs likeness.
and doing this with a platform of 1.8 million people makes it even more irresponsible. influencers quite literally influence what their audience sees as acceptable, and the amount of people in the comments enabling this instead of questioning the complete lack of boundaries is exactly why this bothers me so much.
ni-ki is a real human being, not material for strangers to feed into AI to fulfil whatever fantasy or image of him they want to see. having access to technology that CAN do something does not mean you have the right to do it to another person. some basic respect and boundaries should not be this difficult. you should know better. this is shameful.
