It’s getting hard to keep track of what configurations of kids I am able to leave home alone and for how long. I can leave the 11 year old home alone and she can babysit her younger siblings, but not for as long as she can babysit 1 sibling. I can leave the 8 yo home alone for short periods or with sister for longer, but not just with her brother for any amount of time. 6 year old cannot be left alone or with 8 yo but can be left with 11 yo for awhile.

i have a friend with CF. when trikafta came out he went from thinking he had less than a decade to live to having a near-normal lifespan. he immediately went to law school. imagine spending your entire life thinking you’d be dead by 30 and overnight getting 40 extra years.

My hottest take is that you can mess up a lot of things in parenting, but you shouldn’t mess up giving your kids a strong education.
I guess my hottest take about the whole thing is that it’s fine — maybe even good — for a kid to deal with not everything being a perfectly curated experience with his exact needs in mind. A lot of life is like this.

My hot take is that the school itself is actually less important than the parenting. Even in an EXCELLENT school, if you aren't on top of things, your child might not be getting what they need.
