🚗 13-yr automotive engineer, building the tool I wish existed. Vehicle OS: service, insurance, tires & TCO — one place. Building in public ↓

The average car owner spends more $$$/year than they need to on repairs. Not because they don't care. Because nobody's tracking the small stuff until it becomes the expensive stuff. Made a free Service Log tracker to fix that. Takes 2 minutes to set up. Link in reply.

Hot take: People don’t use products just because they have a problem. They use them because the problem makes them feel something. Stress → I need to fix this Uncertainty → I need an answer Frustration → There has to be an easier way That’s the internal trigger. As builders, we often ask: “What problem does my product solve?” Maybe we should also ask: “What does the user feel right before they need my product?” That feeling can be the real reason they come looking for a solution. What’s the internal trigger behind your product?

My first product taught me a painful lesson about building. Beginning of this year, I published my first KDP book: A gratitude journal specifically for overthinkers. I learned KDP from scratch and launched it within a month. Then I made the classic beginner mistake. I thought: “It's published. Now the sales will come.” I even started calculating my potential MRR. 😂 Then… Nothing. No sales from Amazon KDP. I optimized the profile twice. Still nothing. That’s when it clicked: Publishing is not distribution. Building is not demand. I had built something for a specific niche. But I hadn't built an audience or created a reason for people to discover it. The product wasn't the finish line. It was the starting point. That failure still influences how I build today: → Talk to users → Validate the problem → Build → Distribute → Learn → Repeat What’s a product you launched that taught you a lesson the hard way?

Hot take: Social media apps don’t win because they have more features. They win by understanding triggers. You open X because you’re curious what happened. You open Instagram because you want to see what’s new. You get a notification → curiosity kicks in → you open the app → you find something interesting → you come back again. As builders, we often think: “What feature should I add next?” Instead, ask: “What triggers the user to open my product?” Founder takeaway: Don’t just build features. Design around the moments that create the need to use your product. What’s the trigger that brings users back to your product?

In this era of AI, where actually is the wealth transfer taking place? From whom to whom?

Value comes after Money only in the dictionary. In real life, Value is followed by Money

hot take: your product doesn't need more features. it needs a reason for people to choose it. a clear value proposition should answer: → who is it for? → what painful problem does it solve? → why this instead of the alternatives? → what outcome does the user get? if your users can't explain your product in one sentence, your positioning might be the problem. learning this while building Vehicle OS.

tyre rotation is easy to overlook. but rotating tyres at the recommended intervals can help: → promote more even tread wear → extend tyre life → maintain consistent handling → potentially save money on premature replacement check your vehicle manufacturer’s recommended rotation interval — it can vary by vehicle and tyre setup. That's why I built a feature to track it👇
Car owners don't just need to know what was serviced. They need to remember WHY it was serviced. Added 2 small features to Vehicle OS: → Technician comments → Service history So you can and keep your vehicle's maintenance record in one place. Would this be useful for you?

unpopular opinion: most founders try to sell before people even understand why they should care. the marketing funnel: awareness → who are you? attention → this is interesting consideration → could this solve my problem? trust → i believe this could work action → i’m ready to try/buy building in public is teaching me: marketing isn't just getting people to buy. it's moving the right people from i don't know you → i trust you enough to act still figuring out where i’m losing people

founders, something i've been thinking about: -what habits does your business model actually require from your users? -what problem are they turning to your product to solve? -and most importantly — how are they solving that problem today? because if users already have a workaround, your real competition might not be another startup. -it might be a spreadsheet. -a WhatsApp message. -a notebook. -doing nothing. -or simply living with the problem. what did you discover about your users that changed how you built your product?

Your car warranty isn't just paperwork Missing the deadline could mean paying for repairs that might otherwise been covered The goal isnt to remember every date It's to know → Whats covered → When it expires → What action to take before it does Your future self will thank u

Missing your vehicle warranty deadline can turn a covered repair into an out-of-pocket expense. And extended warranties can have their own conditions Track: Warranty expiry Extended warranty deadline Coverage Important terms A simple reminder today can prevent a big expense

hot take: building without talking to customers is just guessing. today's experiment: talk to car owners about warranty + extended warranty deadlines. do they track them? do they miss them? what happens when they do? listen first. build second.

hot take: Product-market fit isn't when people say cool product It's when they say I need this. When can I use it Likes ≠ PMF Followers ≠ PMF Downloads ≠ PMF Repeated usage + paying customers + retention = stronger signals. Build less. Talk to users more. 🚀

building Vehicle OS one small feature at a time Today's update: → Added technician comments → Added service history Nothing flashy Just trying to make the service tracker more useful every time you actually take your car to the workshop What feature would you add next?👇

Will u give more weightage to 1.Frequency of using app or 2.Perceived utility
Trying to figure out what actually keeps users around. is it A) How often they open the app B) How useful they think it is, even if rarely opened for Vehicle OS specifically most people won't log in daily, but the utility is high when they need it. 👇🏻
