During my HFT ops on @polymarket crypto markets, I had infrastructural investments with BSO in the form of a private lease line between Tokyo CC (Tokyo) and Digital Realty (Dublin), shaving roughly 60ms in RTT.
Why? Notably, up to a few months after the market have launched, lead-lag modelling showed that market participants were still quoting at about 110ms lag to binance. I knew that the infrastructural edge would make me the fastest participant in that market.
Lo and behold, while I was midst signing the contracts, poly introduced a taker delay to the matching engine. Luckily, a lot of the profitable order flow was still latent in the order books, as the market was new and people still didn't know how to price it. So my investments gave me "first look" at badly priced orders.
Funnily enough, there was one day where poly switched off the taker delay without making prior announcements. I had a PnL of $30,000 on that day picking off market makers - this was later quickly rectified and the market makers on Discord were absolutely furious
