SolarSands is literally 100% correct here and people are losing their minds over it
often I get comments on other platforms that are like "thanks for not using AI" when I have like a shitty 3d model in a video, and this bothers me for 2 reasons
1. you literally have no idea when someone has used AI or not. if your only bar for liking something is whether or not they used ai then its really bad that you cannot tell. this is more true than its ever been and will only get more true. The models are shockingly capable at making things
2. it collapses the appreciation of my art when its only appreciated because of an imaginary confidence that I havent done The Thing. At any point you could decide that you think ive done The Thing because you cant tell either way. and the quality of my art or ideas means nothing as long as ive not done The Thing, because the value is exclusively that I didnt do The Thing.
I'm held in this weird position of being endlessly praised for even mediocre work because of an invisible unjustifiable belief. please tell me you liked the video. I dont care that you appreciate that I made it in after effects instead of some other software. tell me my idea was good.
Again and again in the interest of hating AI (which has indeed caused many social ills) people really seem to be married to the idea that AI art can never ever ever be interesting or impressive. Which seems like kind of an overcorrection and doomed to be countered eventually.
