Cosmos update, please share with any
$atom holders you know, as well as anyone in crypto media who might be interested. I got people into cosmos so I'm making my penance by giving what I see as the actual current situation even though that permanently nukes any relationships I have with certain Cosmos types. It was my career. I don't take this decision lightly.
1) now I'm officially blocked by cosmos labs for making security suggestions and well, yes, it's true, laughing and expressing shock at just how poorly they can handle security. Really it's incredible that it can actually get worse, and honestly someone needs to point that out. If that gets me blocked, so be it.
2) WTF does this even mean other than that they needed to release a new binary in secret? Why not just say that? It isn't like development is decentralizwed anymore. Cosmos Labs released the new binary and the old binary and all of the binaries because they have full control of Cosmos now and that's just how it is.
3) use of the passive voice is a very reliable indicator of deception
4) cosmos labs was supposed to fix this security & disclosure stuff but it's got far worse.
5) I know it's sorta mean to "kick when down" (of course some of it might be related to being kicked when I was down) or whatever but I'm just an indie dev the idea that I'm "punching down" to a foundation with (supposedly -- definitely no one is super clear on their finances) hundreds of millions of dollars is hilarious.
6) Much of their new database tooling relies on stuff that I took the initiative to add to cosmos. Yes, I am why pebbledb is in cosmos. Yes, I hired out of my own validator earnings to do it. No, notional was not thanked, socially or financially for what we did because we outperformed all of the team of teams in the database realm and became a threat to the team of teams and to the public view of the competence of the foundation because indeed the foundation was and is incompetent.
7) From what I can tell, cosmos labs has zero revenue generating clients which means all of it's activities are paid for by the interchain foundation.
8) The Interchain Foundation has a clear mission and as far as I can tell that mission is not remotely related to creating proof of authority business blockchains.
9) nothing is being done for the cosmos hub although the interchain foundation is supposed to support the cosmos hub -- not the wells Fargo blockchain which..... Really shouldn't be made with old, poorly maintained, unreliable and slow blocbchain tech -- unless for some impossible to understand reason that's what wells Fargo actually wants -- or maybe wells has a relationship with Mag/Barry and is willfully choosing substandard tech from vendors who openly overstate performance while not being truthful about the presence of bugs, etc.
10) it's sad to see cosmos go from world leading tech to tech that I feel bad for recommending. I'm trying to make up for that now by sharing what I consider the real situation.
