AAU Lecturer Found De@d in Hotel Room After Encounter With 21-Year-Old Woman In Edo State A senior lecturer at Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Dr. Matthew Uwuigbe, has been found de@d in a hotel room in Ekpoma, Edo State, with the circumstances surrounding his de@th now under investigation. Uwuigbe, a lecturer in the Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science, reportedly d+ed on Monday, October 5, 2026, at a hotel in the Mosco area of Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area. According to the Edo State Police Command, the incident was reported at about 8pm after Uwuigbe had lodged at the hotel and engaged the services of a 21-year-old woman identified as Angela Defa Jacob. Police spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, said Uwuigbe later asked the woman to leave the room to purchase water for him. When she returned, she reportedly found the lecturer lying lifeless and raised the alarm. “The woman returned to the room and discovered Uwuigbe lying lifeless, prompting the report to the police,” Ikoedem said. The police have arrested and detained the woman, alongside the hotel owner and manager, as part of efforts to establish what happened before the lecturer’s de@th. The command said the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. Uwuigbe’s remains have been deposited at the Oriaifo Memorial Hospital Mortuary pending the outcome of the investigation. Meanwhile, AAU confirmed that Uwuigbe was a member of its academic staff but distanced the institution from the circumstances surrounding his de@th. The university spokesperson, Otunba Aladenika, said the incident occurred outside the institution and was unrelated to the university’s official activities. He also clarified that the 21-year-old woman was not an AAU student.

A Special Appreciation to Our Generous Donors and Supporters We wish to express our profound gratitude and sincere appreciation to our friends, associates, supporters and well-wishers who have continued to demonstrate their belief in our aspiration through their generous personal contributions, donations of campaign materials and sacrifices. We are particularly humbled by those who, from their hard-earned resources, have donated vehicles and other mobility support to strengthen our campaign, grassroots mobilisation and outreach across Ogun State. These are not contributions we take for granted. Every vehicle donated represents sacrifice, commitment and, above all, confidence in our collective aspiration and the future we seek to build together. For individuals to voluntarily commit their personal resources to provide buses, an ambulance, a pickup and other vehicles for our campaign is a powerful demonstration of trust and commitment to our collective journey. These vehicles are already strengthening our grassroots operations, with some deployed to support mobilisation and outreach efforts involving Ode Ado, Sango (Jabot), Alhaji Ismail, Imam Ado, Imam Akewukowo, Fulani Ilaro, Imam Ijebu, Door 2 Door and Ese Muphy. We equally acknowledge and appreciate the many supporters who have provided other campaign materials and logistical assistance, as well as those contributing their time, expertise, networks and resources to the success of our movement. Whether your contribution is publicly acknowledged or quietly made behind the scenes, please know that we value and appreciate every sacrifice. We are conscious that many of these donations came from resources that our supporters could have devoted to their personal needs, families and businesses. Choosing instead to invest part of those resources in our aspiration places an enormous responsibility on us. We will continue to cherish the confidence you have reposed in us. To Mr. Akintunde Armstrong, Alhaji IBD Dende, Alhaji Sacobass, Mr. Fatai Adesegun and every other donor and supporter listed above, we say thank you.
